I am currently writing my first album and I thought of how boring it seems that these days the only real standard for most people is MP3 files so I am trying to think outside of the box here on how I am going to release this album when it's done. I will probably put it on the itunes store, but I am also thinking of other ways. I am thinking about somehow making a short film/ powerpoint presentation that can serve as a visual but I'm not sure yet. I might also write a short novel that will come as a PDF with the album.

Do you guys have any ideas? I want this album to be more than just audio. I really like the Mind's Eye videos and how it combines music with CGI, but I have no idea how to make computer animation!

I think you should have like little sections of story between the song lyrics in the booklet. Sort of like Seventh Avenue's Terium. Really... this would make the whole experience cerimonial. What kind of music is it? Prog rock? Prog metal?

Here are just a bunch of random ideas:

A poster
A booklet with storyboard in between song lyrics... like commentary almost
A bonus DVD?
Autograph a limited number of copies yourself and sell them (500-1000)
A little booklet with the story and artwork that follows it
A T-Shirt (This is an obvious one... great way to get people to buy it)
A metal case that has the ability to hold these items and the CD case

And you'd wanna sell a normal version also if you wanna.

And maybe sell the special edition for 30-40 bucks.
