How the hell do Dragonlord get their own forum when bands like Emperor, Mayhem, My Dying Bride and Theatre of Tragedy are excluded?

Love them or hate them, you just know they'll have interesting and constant discussions.

I'm all for a variety of forums, but it seems to be getting ridiculous.

In all seriousness, I think Mark said that a lot of times, he'll approach a band to see if they are interested in the UM forum, and they'll say either they are happy with their own, or are not interested.

But yes, soon we'll have 100's of bands (many obscure) with forums.

my dying bride have a forum on another...how can i say...UM sort of site. and im sure Emperor do too. but yeah this is the place to go if you want to get more replies and info, other message boards are dead, but not this one.

Emperor don't (nor do Zyklon) but candlelight have totally fucking ignored the 3 emails I sent them telling them about UM

Mayhem and Theatre of Tragedy I haven't tried, so if u give me an email address I can if u want :) Or u can do it urself ;) :p

What are theater of tragedy like neway? I've been thinking of getting some!

 Well, I'm quite sure that 'candlelight' know all about UM forums dude. Lee_B posts here all the time! Ask him again.

Would do, but he no longer is part of it, its now a subsidury (is that the right word??) of PHD so he can't do a great deal(I assumed)... Otherwise I would have asked him long ago ;)

But if you wanna create a demand why not email info@plastichead.com and tell them you want an emperor and zyklon forum ;)

I might be missing something, but why does Ultimate Metal require permission to run a band forum? Isn't this the internet?

I think Mark has said he doesn't want to go starting up 'unofficial' forums just yet, and it has more weight here if the band supports it.

It's also cool when band members make some posts, which I guess they wouldn't if it wasn't official.

And as for emailing Candlelight, is that the right aproach? I though approaching the webmaster of the bands official website was the best way to go? Rather than a label, which may have a million things to do each day, so a crappy internet forum gets ignored.

And as much as I love Mayhem, would a forum really work? Imagine the number of posts from newbies, asking 'so, what exactly DID happen in Norway in '93?'

Hmmm, I hadn't thought of that! I suppose every few weeks someone would ask that question. Perhaps we fans could just give them a few of these ' '

Still, even a forum for black metal itself would be cool. Somewhere to discuss all sorts of things to do with the genre. I wrote to Mark about it and I think his silence is a clear answer!

He did ask the question a few weeks ago, I think it was in the General Music forum (which is the collected form of what used to be all the seperate genre boards). I think the general opinion was that it was fine how it was.

Yeah, something like that I think :)

I've tried them as well, and the Mortiis and Ulver webmasters (Ulver one is really cool, check out their site) were the only ones to bother replying...

So, what did happen in '93 ;)

um... what happened in norway in '93? I'mm pretty certain people drank booze, kids were born, people from other countries visited, people within the country had sex, and someone listened to some music, and people ate food and pooed into toilets. But what else? I have never heard a Mayhem song.

While we're on the subject of '93, has anyone read Lords of Chaos, a book whose subtitle explains the contents: The Bloody Rise of the Satanic Metal Underground.

I've almost finished it and it's a great overview of "what happened in 93", as well as before and after. There are interviews from bandmembers, priests, police officers etc, and the entire thing is written academically with a basically non-biased approach.

It's full of fascinating rare photographs and pictures dealing with the black metal Norwegian scene.

Page 327 ;) I've only had it a week tho, so this is the first time I've read it...

Itssss..... hmmm. Not sure. Some of the stuff they include, to me feels like padding, it's quite a long book based on not a great deal. But it goes into A LOT of detail without being to sensationalist which has to be good...and the number of times Vikernes contradicts himself in the same sentence is fucking ridiculous  He really wasn't blesssed with much intelligence that one.... But I agree, its pretty much non-biased and a good book! :spin:

The only thing is the racism (see page 327 ;) ) of some of the fans annoys me intenseley

There's a Dragonlord forum? What the hell am I doing here then...

About Theatre of Tragedy: they have their own, rather vivid forum at www.theatreoftragedy.com - check the site, if you want to know how they are today.

If you want to know, how Theatre of Tragedy were, check my reply to a few weeks old thread with Theatre of Tragedy in subject.

And no, they have nothing to do with metal nowadays.

hehe I know, I just thought it was ironic. What I meant was that he must have at least some kind of contact with who runs it, and that they would know about this place! Maybe that's a little naive of me, but it's plain silly of them not to include bands forums here bearing in mind the traffic that comes through here!

I've got this great tape recording (which I made by accident funnily enough) of a radio 1 rock show 1hr special about black metal and it's chequered past. It's got interviews with Varg, Chronos and the priest of one of the churches that got burned down. Not to mention some annoying and smug music journalists who are patronising BM. (and some incredibly cool background music)

I'll encode it and post it somewhere for people to download.... when I get it back of my drummer who's had it for 3 years!!!! It's that good!
