Thanks to boredom, I feel impelled to rescue the board from chronic crapness with a series of somewhat generic, somewhat fun, somewhat useful threads that don't quite fit into the category of 'talking about music you like'.

I'd like descriptions/opinions of the following:
Demonic Christ
Avenger
Eminenz
Slavland
Sorhin
Vrolok
Bluuurgh...
Funebrarum
It Is I
Wormphlegm

Possibly, though that thread's definitive boundaries are so broad now that it's practically the forum itself. I figure that if we take the sticky for what it specifically is supposed to be - a thread in which one should express a liking for certain bands - this one isn't so redundant. If the majority agrees with you I'll delete it, though.

I don't, seeing as I see the majority of people just going in there and yelling out whatever they're listening to. Unfortunately I can't help out with any of those bands, however.

Of those bands I've only heard Sorhin which I've never liked very much, allthough their latest relase (a split with Puissance) provided the best material to date so I have some hopes for the future. Their music is essentially pretty fast melodic black metal, raw production and a screechy vocal performance, with a clear influence of more classical rock on their latest effort Apokalypsens Ängel. The main problem with them for me is that they're not very varied, not at all actually on I det glimmrande mörkrets djup were only a coule of songs are worth the time spent listening to them. They're not completly unoriginal though, and I can't think of any good comparisons atm, but they don't do much for me.

I can give a few descriptions.

Avenger - I'm going to assume you mean the Czech Avenger, in which case I've only heard Fall of Devotion, Wrath and Blasphemy. There are mp3's and a review here which explain it far better than I can.

Sorhin - Spaffe gave an apt description. They're basically high-speed, interesting and energetic melodic black metal. Apokalypsens Angel has a degree of originality and a really potent energy. It's worth checking out, but not essential.

Bluuurgh... - I have In My Embrace, it's thrashy old school death metal, extremely anti-christian, with an extremely high-pitched vocalist. It has it's fair shre of technicallity and brutality, and is a pretty decent listen. Again, nothing too amazing, but worth while(if you can find it).

Spektr is pretty interesting. No Longer Human Senses is a mix of black metal and ambient with a huge industrial overtone. It's distant and warped, baring similarities to The Work Which Transforms God, and it also seems they've taken lessons from Mysticum. Not as good as either of the previously mentioned, and a bit derivative, but interesting nonetheless.

No it's good enough for this, I really don't see the need.

Anyways Wormphlegm fucking owns. Great SLOW SLOW SLOW SLOW filthy funeral doom. Sick production, tortured vocals, interesting instrumentation and creative songwriting (making one 32 minute song not boring = hard, trust me). Definitely check them out, and Tyranny too.

Similar but really not. Similar in genre and slow (SLOWWWWWWW I mean) developing-ness, but not really in production or sound.

I've interested in the following bands which some have been gaining praise from various boards.

Ancient Gods
Altar (Netherlands)
Belial (Finland)
Dark Tribe
Unholy (Finland)

I have "Gods of the Pit" by Belial and it's decent primitive stuff I recall. Altar are quite good on the split with Cartilage - it's typical Swedish DM, though a little more seductive than most and produced like a fucking razor. Cartilage obliterate them, mind you. Dark Tribe is quite bizarre, twisted stuff, but I've hardly listened to them thanks to PEOPLE ON DIRECT CONNECT ONLY SHARING HALF THE FUCKING ALBUM.
