The Official "TicketMaster F***ing Sucks" thread

Yes...let's show them who is boss...

...by buying PPVIII tickets!

It pains me to think of how much money they're making off of us...

I'd rather see the "convenience" charges be going to Glenn & Shane. Ticketbastard has been horrible for MANY years. The monoploy continues,
and if we want to go to their venues for shows, we have no choice.... :(

There is a Ticketmaster Office of some sort on the route I take to and from work every day. And every day, twice a day I give them the 1 finger salute as I pass by. Eeeehhh makes me feel a tad better.

TicketMaster f***ing sucks.

We all feel your pain!

Too bad Glen can't do the tickets himself, but my guess is that since Center Stage uses Ticketbastard that he is forced to use them.

Yeah - I hate paying the rape and gouge fees too. But do we have a choice?

I like Jaxx where you can either use TicketBastard or pay at the door and save the a**hole fees. Too bad Center Stage isn't set up like that.

Oh well, what can you do? Not much. :erk:

I think Harv should do an "underground" thing for ProgPower... set the whole show up, but don't tell Center Stage about it. He could sell the tix himself. Then, the nights of the fest, he breaks in, sets everything up, and has ProgPower USA, incognito. BAM! Everybody wins, except TicketRapist. ;)

Total Convenience Charge(s) US $7.25 x 1- Not too convenient

Total Building Facility Charge(s) US $1.00 x 1 -what the hell is this for

Order Processing Charge US $3.55
a processing fee- one would think purchasing the ticket means they have to process it

It could be worse
"In 2004, Clear Channel was sued by a San Francisco, California man for charging a mandatory parking fee on every ticket sold for a venue, whether the person purchasing the ticket was driving alone, car-pooling, or using public transportation. This is still unresolved."

of course I need not give them any suggestions.

I hate all of the add ons. It sucks. I bought Amon Amarth tickets that were originally $22... I ended up paying $40 with the processing fees. Bullshit...

They also spell band names incorrectly. I had a helluva hard time finding Dark Tranquillity/The Haunted/Into Eternity/Scar Symmetry tickets because of a misspelling in the band name. Ugh. Waste of time.

Here's something to chew on: Think about all the concerts you've attended, and how many of them(most for me) were done through Ticketbastard. Now, think about the grand total of money you could have in your pocket right now, almost like a tax return, if they refunded all those bullshit charges to you. I could fucking retire.

Yep......that's a pile of money.

Glenn has posted a tepid defense of Ticketmaster from a promoter's standpoint in the past, but I can't remember exactly what it was......and even so, it was still pretty damned tepid.

i went to a zz top concert march 6 and ended up buying tickets at the door and saving almost 12 dollars per ticket, since i didnt have to pay about 10 fees at the colliseum.

I agree with the posts here. It's hard to defend them because it's not free-market decisions that got them where they are. I teach economics and I can usually rationalize any kind business decision, but ticketmaster provides a challenge in that regard. To me, the worst part is they are so secretive about what the stuff goes for. I've had students try to do some research on ticketmaster before and getting them to explain WHERE the "convenience charge" money goes is like pulling teeth. We did get one assisstant manager one time to tell us that he "thought" the convenience charge money and the processing fees actually get funneled into the same account, but he couldn't be sure.

Does anyone know or has anyone met anyone who actually works at ticketmaster? Maybe they could offer an explanation.
