The Orphanage

I'm pretty sure it wasn't actually BY del Toro, I think he just helped do whatever people do when they use their status to attach their name to something and help get it out there.

So , visually, it wasn't nearly on the same level as The Devil's Backbone, but this one was probably better overall! I think the Orphanage was definitely a more effective horror film, if you group them both as that.

yeah they used the whole "Quentin Tarantino Presents" template
..so Guillermo didn't direct it

Digital video worked very well in Inland Empire imo ;),
The movie as a whole had this blairwitch project+eternal sunshine of the spotlessmind(<3) vibe over it.

Watched the Tideland trailer, seems like a movie of my likings. I'll try and find it somewhere. Thanks for recommending.

Inland Empire was ok. It's not his best work. I liked the digital angle, it makes alot of scenes less smooth and much more abrasive. The problem, I think, is that he sometimes errs into nonsensical. I enjoy how he says things most of the time, it's original and normally challenging in some form but Inland Empire occasionally wanders.

Lynch didn't write any script for this movie, and I think it was a big mistake. Try to build a house without a blueprint...

Oh kill me now. I Am Legend was completely ruined! Literally, the only things that the book and the film had in common were his name and the title of the film. I almost exploded in my pants when I heard they were making a movie out of it, then I saw it. The CGI was horrible, and they were vampires in the book anyway, but actually somewhat believable. Glad I downloaded it first. If you haven't seen it, just splice scenes from Resident Evil: Extinction, 28 days later, and the Dawn of the Dead remake sans awesomeness and you have I Am Legend.

inland empire, of course was great....

no news about The Orphanage here in oz, can you send some rotten tomatoes liks on this film...

the closest theater to me that it's playing in is half an hr away (by freeway, though. lame) and i don't have anyone to go with other than will, who i probobly won't see until it isn't playing anymore :(
