The purpose of tape ON the guitar body ??!!

Hi look at the pic below, its from Textures - Drawing Circles recording (If you haven't listen to this album yet, just get it, guitar sound if not so great but the music is incredible). I was familiar to tapping strings, muting Vibrato springs, but taping the Guitar Body ??

To avoid the strap rubbing against the guitar body ? But under the control knobs, and on the low edge/angle ???

Those guys definetly know what they are doing so there should a purpose to this. Any ideas ?

We usually use tape on those parts if the straplocks doesn't stay put well enough, but for the bottom of the guitar my guess is the guitar might have sharp edges from hitting the guitar to walls etc, so the tape is there to prevent any cuts, or it just might be plain visual thing.

looks like ducktape (the fixer upper)
he has them at the tips of the cutaway too...probably one banged up guitar
