Well for me John Tardy remains at number one mainly perhaps for historical reasons. My first exposure to death metal came when me and a friend purchased Leprosy- Death and Slowly We Rot- Obituary way back then.
We played the Death album first and well we a little concerned as to our sanity. The scream in Left To Die is a classic moment of death metal depravity.
Then came Obituary with its low budget production and those inhuman vocals.
There have been a multitude of death metal singers since that early baptism of glass gargling.
But for me John Tardy still reigns supreme as the definition of sick.
I really dig Tomas Lindberg for sounding totally insane and clear but its a different type of death vocals. And of course Mikael for those amazing deep growls and dynamics.
Your thoughts.

Ah yes Lord worm. I have never heard Lord Worm, something I will have to rectify but Remnants of Reezon has the most ungodly description of his vocal attack. It definitely worth checking out though the site is now inactive.

Also : Frank Mullen-Suffocation-Pierced From Within

Brett Hoffman- Malevolent Creation- Mainly just for a couple of lines on their first album. Creepy. He was in the zone on that first track.

Entombed- Clandestine, a tad disturbing. Petrov I think.

Lord Worm was a god (Mike DiSalvo is a pussy)

John Tardy (sang in his own language, basically) "RAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRooooooooWWWWWWWWrAa! CAUSE-UHRA OF DE-AAAAAAAAAAAATH UUUUH""

Dragon from Depresy is AMAZING...guttural and unique, but not br00tally indecipherable...

Dan Swano was one of the best back in the Purgatory Days...still really good...not really SICK but great nonetheless...

I completely and totally agree with you (Johnny Djordjevich, nothing, eh?) plus, to support what you said in your first post. John Tardy is the king. of all.

John Tardy was amazing. He sounded so fucking cool, hehe. =)

right now though, Dave Rotten of Avulsed and Repulse Records takes the cake for me. Oh yeah. ;o)

[edit] flo's drum solo on none so live was completely naff. I was devastated by how lame it was. =(
