The Simpsons glory days are probably over, but I still respect them beyond words.

Tonight, on a new episode, the sign in front of Tiananment Square said "On this site, in 1989, Nothing Happened." Then they recreated the famous picture from the massacre with Selma standing right in front of the tank.

Fucking awesome.

Rather than start another TV thread in the same night, this is where I'll say that Arrested Development is the best thing to happen to television in many years.

Oh I totally agree, arrested development is the funniest show since The Job.

The whole Mother Boy thing was a riot, as was the hook. How can one show be so funny, and everything else on TV be so pathetic?

haha

that reminds me of the famous Lemmy Quote:

Question: Lemmy, what would you do if you came face to face with Elvis Presley today?

Lemmy: I would be astounded, and I would say, "Elvis, I'm astounded!"

The Simpsons glory days are over yes.At Season 10 at best , season 8 if I behave like a fanboy.Note that The Simpsons in French rules but in a very different way compared to the original. We lose some funnay often though.

I'll go out on a limb. (And I mean no offense to Buster when I say this) But Arrested Development may very well be the greatest sitcom ever made!

AD = :rock:

Too bad America is too fucking stupid to take notice and the show is in serious risk of not making it to Season 3. Season 2 was already cut by 4 episodes to give way to that shitacular known as "American Dad" come May :yuk:

Seriously. Well, I sorta liked American Dad, but Family Guy is better, and Arrested Development is better than all of those.

We're talking fucking Seinfeld quality with AD. If it gets canned, and they move to HBO or something, I might very well get cable. :hysterics: :hotjump: :my pals-lover:

But if HBO picks it up, Ill have to wait for the dvds to come out. Im not paying for 20 bucks to watch HBO; they dont even have soft core porn like SKinamax at night.

Eh, The Simpsons was always inconsistant even in its prime, though when they got it right it was genius. These days it's just decent. Family Guy and later South Park both blow it off the face of the Earth though.

How can someone not love the Tiananmen Square bit!? Come on, that is gold I tells ya, GOLD! The rest of the episode was pretty meh, yes, and the Japanese episode ruled. England not so much.

Family Guy and South Park flat out wouldn't exist without the Simpsons. I like both of those shows, and yes currently they are doing better than the Simpsons in terms of quality, but it's like saying Kyuss shits all over Sabbath. Even if you love the new kid on the block and hate the old gray mare, give respect where respect is due.

I still prefer Simpsons to both South Park and Family Guy. Sure quality has declined, but fuck the shows been on for what 13 or 14 years? South Park and Family Guy dont even touch the worst SImpsons episode--well maybe the musical one based on paint your wagon. And why cant the SImpsons make fun of other countries? Its not as if the chinese gov is warm and cuddly. I was dying when Homer visited Maos embalmed body, and he said your a cute dictator that killed 50 million people, yes you are.

Never saw the coolshit with South Park. It's OK. The Kenny bit is old and stupid. The onyl reason to watch is because of fatass Cartman.

I've watched a little bit of Arrested Development and it wasn't too bad. I'm sure if I invested some time with the show, I'd like it.

The new sitcom The Office coming out soon looks somewhat promising is they actually push the envelope a little bit, instead of becoming one of these ball-less sitcoms these days.

Other than Boston Legal, Scrubs, and Committed, I stick to re-runs of old shows.

Seinfeld and Married..With Children are all a person really needs in the end. I speak da troof.

fuck knows what the american office will be like but the uk one was skin crawlingly hilarious, usually when the US remakes brit comedy it comes out like shit from a cunt = wrong

the simpsons is great
not having sky tv or anything
most of what I've seen is pretty old
our kid is mad on it though
we have the dvd box sets for seasons 1-4 which rule

what you yankee boys really need is a dose of FATHER TED
funniest show EVER
its about three priests on a remote irish island (craggy island)
if you possibly can get some!!

its funny like fawlty towers is funny

remember the episode of married with children with anthrax?

Oh shit I forgot about that part, that was awesome. Simpsons are on their 16th year right now, not including the few years they were part of Tracy Ullman. That's quite an accomplishment, especially for irreverence and intelligence originating in America no less.

I think JayKeeley will personally slap anyone who watches the American version before the original British one. :tickled:

Arrested Development takes a few episodes to get a feel for it, you would most likely love it to death given your love for Seinfeld.

Well for me the only sitcoms I need are: Simpsons, Seinfeld, Cheers, WIngs, and the Munsters. ALl make me laugh after countless viewings. And Benny Hill makes me laugh my ass off, as does the few episodes of Fawlty Towers.

And I never have liked SOuth Park, ever. I just never got why everyone thought all the gay and excrement jokes were so funny. But hey thats just me. And Family guy is way too disjointed to be a classic.

the simpsons is indeed genius and has been on longer, but family guy has more hilarity per episode than any of the shows mentioned so far. i hope the new episodes are at least near the same quality. AD is also really funny. probably the best non-animated show on tv right now.
