The sticky residue thread

You can use eucalyptus oil to get the sticky residue off, though the plastic may be slightly affected. Others suggest WD-40 or several other products, but eucalyptus oil has a more girly scent. If it doesn't quite get 100% perhaps you can bother handling something more toxic like isopropyl alcohol just to get the last bit.

Calling isopropyl alcohol "toxic" is a bit of a stretch unless you're planning on using it as a cocktail mixer, as it's literally the stuff in your medicine cabinet and hand sanitizer. It’s actually the safer bet for most plastics because it evaporates before it can do any real structural damage

I got a bit carried away there as the other substances are probably not much better. Isopropyl alcohol will absorb more readily into the bloodstream via the skin than ethanol-based sanitizer, but then I have weaksauce skin. I've tried the likes of hand sanitizer and deodorant, only to have them set off eczema all over my body.

What sucks is when you get spare jewel cases and they turn out to be knock-off flimsy ones with parts that don't stay connected together as well. Then you end up with a whole lot of spare backs and a bunch of trays as it's mostly the fronts that need replacing.

Alternatively you could find some secondhand CDs with cases in good condition at the thrift store and get some bonus Christian hymn frisbees in the process.

I like how this guy's fifth post in 19 years was to call out Bloopy about isopropyl alcohol.
