Hey people, I'm not a huge SX fan yet I love their music, it's just amazing.
I noticed that in every album cover there is those two masks. What do they represent? do they symbolize anything??
Sorry if this was talked about before.
Cheers

I don't think so. They represent Symphony X's fusion between Metal and other styles of music.

What the fuck?

I thought they had a similar meanng to the yin yang symbol

That's how i've always seen it too, goodness juxtaposed against evil. For instance, the image where the white mask man is looking at the mirror and you see the other one dressed in black? it's all the same principle. Like when you look at yourself in the mirror that's when you see the evil that's inside of you kind of thing.

It is true that one of the guys, propably Romeo, said something along those lines about the fusion of music... I think I read it in one of the interviews on the homepage, but not sure.

Dude, I totally forgot about you and didn't answer your PM. :erk:

We should hang out sometime. Jam or something.
I mean, we live in the same town damn it!

I'll talk to you on skype tonight if I find you.

Even if that were true I fail to see what's the connection between those images and their fusion of music styles, not to mention that SyX doesn't fuse a whole lot of styles in their music.

Yeah, I'd agree. But anyway, I guess this is one of those things that are open to different interpretations.

Symphony X is in fact a metal band but here and there I can definitely name a few other styles that bear influence.

Having influences here and there of other styles (like the jazz bit in Awakenings for instance) does not = a fusion of genres. SyX are pretty much straight up with their music.

it's a fusion (if that) of a narrow band of metal varieties. it's sidesplitting when metal bands are given the 'jazz' description because of a few time changes or free-time measures.

Ever used words loosely in order to describe something? You can stop being nitpicky any time now. Even saying they are a fusion of metal varieties is stretching it, but whatever.
