the turning point

Well, I grew up with two parents that were active and passive lovers of classical music. So I only knew that stuff and the top 30 hits on the radio. I actually had a favorite opera back then (die zauberflute), and I even tried to do impressions of some of the aria's. But then one time around 1989-1990 I heard the both best of queen albums at my cousins house and I was stunned. As soon as I could I bought some of their records and became a huge fan. Unfornunatly, a year later, Freddy died.

I remember being angry because suddenly everyone seemed to be a fan of them, even people who laughed at me for loving Queen (before Freddies death). Well a lot has happened since then, but I still really like my queen albums (especially their 70's stuff, brilliant)!!! Still get the chills with "don't stop me now"

Yeah right, I would like to see my reaction if from one day to another Anathema becomes more huge than Oasis, and everybody starts speaking 'bout them

U2 - War

And those that got me into metal were GNR - Use Your Illusion, Machine Head - Burn My Eyes, Sepultura - Chaos A.D etc...

i've always been listening to my parents records, mainly Beatles and Rolling Stones so I've got a decent 60's pop rock background.

me mate's mum is into anathema, and everytime i go there she asks me to play some songs on the piano. its well embarassing.

shit! i,m glad i never got into my folks music my dad loved montavani , and me mother was into, roy orbison :erk: :OMG: but when i was young i loved duran duran , wham , culture club and all the cool eighties stuff :hotjump:

I have older cousins and an older brother that were always playing cool music. I started getting into Headbangers' Ball and college radio around age eleven (back in 1993). I started listening to Danzig, Metallica, Megadeth, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Slayer,Manowar, Morbid Angel. I heard My Dying Bride's "Symphonaire Infernus..." on a local college station around that time. I started guitar lessons around two years later.

feeeeeeeeed the wooooooooooo-oooorld let them know it's christmas tiiii-mmmee

and the final countdown

(franky goes to hollywood and the smiths (the booooy with the toooorn in his siiiiiiiiide) and classical music on the background)

I got into metal what I was 9 with the "All faith is lost" demo, ok ok, I'm lying. But the turning point for me was at 9, Guns n Roses's "Appetite for Destruction" and other songs from them first, and a little after "and justice for all"...after that I was rocking out deicide like.."children of the underworld" haha! Before all of that it was bryan adams like and an italian rocker marco masini, he had this song called "Fuck You"(Vaffanculo). I thought it was pretty evil.

Heavy Metal and Jazz.. no!
Yeah, Heavy Metal and Jazz, and classical stuff and mainstream music...
When it's good, it's good you know.
On the other hand lots of people don't listen to Heavy Metal because they think it is only noise, it's only because they have never really listened to metal. "Open your thoughts" as my friend Nescafé says.
Anathema, Antimatter, Dimmu Borgir, Strapping Young Lad, Samael, Moonspell rule!!!!
...and Marcus Miller, Al Di Meola, Jacky Terrasson, Django, Miles, Stan Getz rule too!!!
