Lee, I know Whores were signed to Candlelight some 8 years ago... won't you show some interest nowdays in this great band? They are reformed... I just found their official site

Some of the band members were if I'm not mistakin in black metal act DEAD CHIRST right?

Some of the members are now in the Peaceville band the Soundiciples. I haven't heard 'em though the reviews I've seen tend to mention the Prodigy a lot.

Dead Christ wasn't really a band, just some drunks making noise for no real purpose, though the Whores guys were involved.

The Whores were a decent enough band, but the album hasn't stood the test of time for me. I played it recently and it sounded horribly dated. I'd be interested in hearing the new stuff though.

I also played the second Eterne album "Deadauthor" and I was suprised at how fresh that sounded. That band were years ahead of their time and very criminally underated.

yeah, what was the Whores connection to Portishead? i thought that one of the guys was helping them out, or was it the other way around?

They share the same studio on Bristol... Beth Gibbons even took part in Kumari. There is this Portishead remix even on their 12 Remix EP

Gobz from the Whores owned the recording studio where Portishead recorded their debut album. I believe he later sold half the studio to them.
