Please indicate the following:

- What characteristics in a thread should dictate a 5 star voting?
- What characteristics in a thread should dictate a 1 star voting?
- Does anybody ever vote for 2, 3, or 4 stars?
- Has anyone wondered why the "Latest Purchases" thread has 4 stars?
- Once a thread hits a unanimous 5 star ranking, should it be locked for prosperity?

-My own personal reasoning is arbitrary, but usually the thread greatly pleases me and has made a good use of my time to have recieved 5.
-The thread greatly displeases me, but actually assigning the rating is usually arbitrary or a response to "pwn" the thread author or subject.
-I don't, but I think NAD does.
-I've attempted to correct this with all the power of my fake accounts, but alas, no avail.
-no

I like the system given to me by netflix

***** Loved it
**** Really Liked It
*** Liked It
** Didn't Like It
* Hated It

and if i vote on a new thread, I base it off the concept of the original post or if there's a bunch already, how the response in the first page of posts are

if its an old thread I'll read through the whole thing and average out the value the thread has, if the large is large, I'll abstain from voting, since i wouldn't have a full opinion

I kinda like this thread

To demonstrate the sense of irony and sarcasm that I like to evoke through thread rating, I will give this thread one star.

Do not take this personally Jay, this is merely a demonstration.

1. It makes me laugh out loud lol  or if on rare occasions I learn something interesting from the thread -_-
2. It is boring or derivative or someone started it just to make a naff joke :loco:
3. No
4. Cos inamongst all the people posting what they bought someone occasionally cracks a wild joke or talks nonsense and people rate accordingly, I guess
5. Nah, let us revisit on occasions :)

- What characteristics in a thread should dictate a 5 star voting?
Comedy gold that goes well beyond standard issue. When I am beyond laughter and just nodding my head, wide-eyed in amazement, at a series of several posts in row, it gets the 5-star treatment.

- What characteristics in a thread should dictate a 1 star voting?
Never. I hate people that vote 1-star threads, unless it's done with good humour. If you disagree with something (like my Nirvana thread) fuck off and deal with it. There's a ton of bands discussed here that I can't stand, but I don't go hiding behind some gay ass 1-star rating and then run away.

- Does anybody ever vote for 2, 3, or 4 stars?
Yeah, usually done as a joke. I remember when BWD asked for a 5-star after some huge (and marvelous) rant, HarmonyDies.... gave it 4-stars. Comedy gold.

- Has anyone wondered why the "Latest Purchases" thread has 4 stars?
I know why, a few people voted it 1 and 2 stars, then myself and others voted it 5-stars in retaliation, now it averages to around 4. I'm not sure why people voted it low, I'm assuming either someone did it accidentally or some lurker was just feeling idiotic and wanted to spread their jealousy toward people buying CDs. Or something.

- Once a thread hits a unanimous 5 star ranking, should it be locked for prosperity?
Sounds good to me.

I wonder why people even care about a star rating. I've given lots of 4s and 5s and maybe 1 or 2 star ratings, but these days I usually just stay out of threads that don't interest me.

I've never rated any thread here, I view the stars as indicating the difference between amusing nonsensical threads and pointless ones, and have become an inside joke in themselves here (especially when judgement is cast with a one star...no, that's five! A Fine Day To Exit is one star!)

keep this thread at one for the lame Anathema tie-in.
