Chapter One:
Forming in May, 2008, THESE ARE THEY, a Chicago death metal band featuring vocalist Paul Kuhr (NOVEMBERS DOOM), Guitarist Steve Nicholson (ex-NOVEMBERS DOOM), Guitarist Michael LeGros (DISINTER, EARTHEN), Bassist Wiley Wells (Earthen) and Drummer Evan Berry, would enter the metal scene with an aural assault.

Thirteen years since the release of the NOVEMBERS DOOM debut, "Amid Its Hallowed Mirth," and the departure of Nicholson from the group, founding members Paul Kuhr and Steve Nicholson have reunited to create something new. With the help of good friends and band mates, Mike LeGros, Wiley Wells, and Evan Berry, a musical style was chosen, material was written and THESE ARE THEY recorded their demo debut, keeping the band in silence until music was ready to be released. Recorded, mixed and mastered at Studio One, with Chris Wisco (Djuricic) at the helm, the recording instantly took shape.

Guitar driven, down tuned, and powerful, the material is old school Chicago death metal, with influence added from some band favorites such as Bolt Thrower, Obituary, and Entombed. The songs contain all the head banging hook you would expect from this style.

Paying tribute to the bands who have paved the way with their greatness, THESE ARE THEY will follow in the style that to this day has no equal in hook, power, and brutality.

What began as a part time side band, quickly developed into a more serious project after opportunities arose almost overnight. Knowing our Drummer Evan was off to school in the Fall, we wrote and recorded the EP in 3 months, testing the waters so to speak as to develop a style and function for our songs. Soon after, the seperation of Mike LeGros from the band left us looking for musicians to continue on, as the deal with The End Records was already upon us. While looking for musicians, we kept writing songs and getting prepared for the 1st Album release in 09. By years end we obtained the talents of Sasha Horn (Trials, Novembers Doom) on Drums. As the new year began, new opportunities arose which brought in the Guitar work of Larry Roberts (Novembers Doom) for our SXSW Live Debut (endorsed by RedBull).

Which now brings us to the present, April 09. The EP “Who Manifest” will be available in April 09, our Forum, Myspace and Website are up and running, T-shirts are now available, and we do have some stickers also, The full length will be a late summer or fall release and I’m sure there will be a show or 2 in the near future, 09 will be a year full of These Are They news and happenings.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. He who overcomes won't be harmed by the second death.
