Thin Lizzy question...

No not the classic lineup, what about this new version? How are they?
I know John Sykes is in the band, who else, I think Marco Mendoza from Nugent & Whitesnake was in the band too... I saw where they have some sort of a live record. I'm curious, I might pick it up for shits & giggles...

Sorry I'm a purist. I have all their albums, and without Phil Lynnot is NOT Thin Lizzy.

I do have a "pseudo-official" live album of the new line-up, but i call them Tribute Lizzy :D

I like that live album. "Live One Night Only" is a damn good album, it is not the real Thin Lizzy but as a tribute album its very good. The band on that album is:

John Sykes - guitar/vocals
Scott Gorham - guitar
Darren Wharton - keyboards
Marco Mendoza - bass
Tommy Aldridge - drums

It scary how much John Sykes voice sounds like Phil Lynott's.
I'd rather have this band than no Thin Lizzy at all.

Mine is not that one, is a "pseudo-official" one (not bootleg, not official) called "Extended Versions".

And I disagree with you Hawk (but respect your view), to me without Phil Lynnot CAN'T be a band called Thin Lizzy.

And here's me thinking I accepted your argument by calling them not the real Thin Lizzy. As you were saying, I think of them as a tribute band. But they are doing a very good job of it. In fact they have the full support of the family of Phil Lynott. And they are doing it to keep his memory alive.

I believe they are sincere. Perhaps they should have called themselves a different name but thats a semantic issue as far as I am concerned.

It's almost fucking Whitesnake, isn't it?!
:tickled: :tickled: :tickled:

Actually if they would have the GREAT Brian Downey on drums I'll feel much more confortable with them carrying the banner of Phil.

Right on. That's what they are now, a tribute to the memory of Philip Lynott, and a band who also has a mission to play these songs for younger generations, so that the Thin Lizzy name is not forgotten. I would have never heard these classics live if not for Sykes' will.
As long as they don't release a new album, I support that 100%.
