Under current federal law, I'm fairly positive that this could be construed as an act of terrorism, although it was just a prank in extremely poor taste. If they catch this guy, he could easily go away for years and years to prison.

You actually got quite a few serious replies, which is more than I would have expected, considering this forum. Of course you got some stupid ones too, but to think that you would get none is a little far fetched. You've got to consider most of the people here have no idea who this girl is and they have no emotional attachment to her, so they're not going to say anything more than "Man that sucks, I feel bad and I hope the guy that did it fesses up or gets caught."

Ugh that's really terrible. Not that it would make her situation any better, but I hope it was an accident, and if it wasn't I hope they catch the guy, that's so horrible. Well I don't know her personally, but my best wishes to her, I hope she somehow recovers and I hope she can still do what she loves. That is so sad

Let's look at this legally. If they DO catch this guy, she can sue his pants off as well. She's a drummer, so obviously she makes her living doing what she loves. Now, her music career is seriously in jeopardy if not altogether over. She could easily get some serious money out of this, not that there's a price on having a fully functioning hand, but I think she could at least be compensated close to the million mark. Again, not that that is going to bring back a part of her body, but she should at least be compensated for the rest of her life by him/his family. Yes, his family too. If a family raises a child that throws a bomb at someone ON PURPOSE, they deserve to be punished. We don't know all the facts, so it may actually have been just an accident. But if it happened like we're assessing that it did, she deserves serious compensation.

Isabel, I seriously hope it wasn't your friend. If it was, then maybe you should re-think having him as a friend...

i personnally know a drummer (can't think of his name at the moment) who didn't even become a drummer untill AFTER he had his hand severed off about 2 inches past the wrist
he plays with a drumstick strapped to his forearm and i'm pretty sure just about any drummer should be able to play like that following a hand maiming incident
seriously if she wants to continue being a drummer, she'll start drumming with the drumstick strapped to her forearm
