yes, its myspace. and washington irving was a 19th century american author, mostly wrote short stories. but the facebook person is not portraying that washington irving, but rather the character (of sorts) in joseph heller's novel catch 22 definately worth a read if u like irony and dark humor. the movie sucked tho. and no, i am not washington irving.

i wouldnt recommend washington irving the author. they made me read some of his stuff in hs, and its very dull and not even classic enough to warrant reading. but there arent enough good american authors in the 19th century so that teachers can give u a nice selection. its him or james fenimoore cooper and of the two, irving is less dull.

well theres practically no australian literature worth picking up. except matthew reilly (ice station, scarecrow) and colleen mccullogh (masters of rome series). so we read either absolute trash or foreign books in the classroom.

yeah, im an english major and i cant think of a single australian author. that could be a good thing tho. i think there are more bad american writers than good ones. for every mark twain theres three louisa may alcotts.

haha! i guess australians just arent into writing books: we're more interested in playing sports, always have been. an australian won the nobel prize last year and i dont even know his name, yet i could name you the whole australian cricket team! the same goes for most aussies.

yeah, u know how they talk about baseball being the american sport? went 18 years before i ever went to a game, yankees and phillies, and i got the worst sunburn of my life. needless to say, i never went again and will never go again.

im 16... still havent been to a game of australian rules football although i do love it, just never got round to seeing a match.

ive never been to an american football game, and my hs team was state champion all 4 years i was there. my college doesnt have a football team, so i dont think i will be going. im not into sports like at all. unless u call politics a sport, which u could, cuz it is a contest.
