this new tom robbin's book is zzzzboringzzzzz

i read one tom robbins book and was like "that's pretty good" and then i read another and was like "okay so this uniformity is getting old already" and then i read half of one more and i was like "zzzz if i wanted to see people trying really hard to be weird but only being boring i would go to a time of orchids show and take pictures of the guy with the gas mask on"

i sort of liked 'still life with woodpecker'. but after that i was like NO. but i figured i would give this a try. bad idea.

And you call that boring?!?

Go to amazon.com and buy a used copy of Sewer, Gas, and Electric: The Public Works Trilogy by Matt Ruff. Similar zaniness to Tom Robbbins but so much better (devious robots that create diseases to wipe out all black people (except those with green eyes) and ecoterrorists and a mile high building, among many other things). Buy it. Then buy Fool On The Hill, also by Matt Ruff, and also go out and get some Carl Hiaasen books.

Though I definitely think that anyone who's successfully written a book in second person (Tom Robbins) is awesome.
