Van Halen's song called 'Panama' is sooooo damn good! The slow part which Eddie Van Halen does is so amazing, I can feel his soul in that part!
:hotjump: :worship:

Wow. A newbie to the Van Halen catalog. That's cool. Hey, if you have the 1984 record, what do you think of Drop Dead Legs? I think that's the best track on the record.

I'm a huge fan of the Roth-era of Van Halen! David Lee Roth is without a doubt the best frontman of all time. And I gotta say, Panama is probably my favourite Van Halen song too!

Other faves are Runnin With The Devil, Unchained, Mean Streets, Take Your Whiskey Home, Ain't Talkin' Bout Love, Everybody Wants Some, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, I'll Wait, Drop Dead Legs, Jamie's Cryin', Hear About It Later, Dirty Movies...

I think "Fair Warning" is the most underrated VH album, prob my equal fave with the debut.

I am not a big fan of the Hagar era all together, but 5150 has some of my fave VH songs ever and is one of my fave VH albums. Dreams, Why Can't This Be Love, Love Walks In, Best of Both Worlds & Summer Nights are unreal.

"Panama" is a decent song, as are a few others of the Roth-era, post debut.
In my view, VH has created exactly 2 great records (debut & 5150), and few really good, but not great records (OU812 & Fair Warning) and a ton of filler.

And, although Eddie may have been revolutionary with his tapping & soloing, he was only fair, or average, at best as a songwriter.

Holy Assless Chaps, Batman! Now y'all are speakin' my language! I hope you didn't think this thread would go by without a post from your favorite uncle TED! I've said it before and I'll say it again...I am eternally Edward Van Halen's bitch. He could put Nick Lachey behind the mic and my fatass would probably buy it. (couldn't be any worse than Gary Cherone! ouch!) Lemme say this...I do love Sammy Hagar and every album he has done with VH but there is just NO substituting DAVID LEE ROTH! DLR is as my Australian brother TRIXXI stated, the greatest frontman of all time. David Lee Roth IS Van Halen. Van HAGAR, though a great band, is a different animal alltogether. Not bad, but not as fun as downing a viagra milkshake while rifling through a 300 pound stockpile of PLAYBOYS that you haven't seen before, with a six pack of Gatorade, a bucket of Vaseline, and a spatula! That is what DAVID LEE ROTH ERA VAN HALEN is to me!

BlizzardOz, you have balls as big as churchbells and I commend you for your giving snaps to the greatest American Rock N Roll band of all time. Now, if I may, let me comment on the album that I feel is most underrated.....

WOMEN AND CHILDREN FIRST - Romeo Delight, Take Your Whiskey Home, Everybody Wants Some, Loss of Control - this is the VH album that is the most aggressive. VH I and VH II may be the standard most people set for Ed's guitar playing, but if you want straight up Balls To The Wall, in your face and slap the shit right outta your least favorite teacher or principal's mouth, you gotta have Women and Children First.

1984 can do no wrong...Drop Dead Legs included...but you gotta go deeper to hit the g-spot, my friend. Women and Children First will get you there.

Hope y'all enjoyed my ranting and raving!

One Break...Coooooooommmmmmmmmmmmmminnnnnnn uuuuuuuuppppppppppp!
Ted

Nice post Ted!

Women & Children First is indeed a great album! Take Your Whiskey Home is my fave song on it, and one of the most underrated VH songs ever I reckon!
