Thrash - Your favourites?

I forgot about Power Trip. That record rules. They played here over the weekend and a huge riot broke out into the street and someone got stabbed, or so I hear.

They are amazing live. Saw them at A389 fest and they stole the show for me and I went specifically to see Integrity and Bloodlet, but Power Trip definitely brought the energy.

Yeah I've seen them a few times. Always a great live band. Would take that A389 fest Integrity set over them any day though.

some of my favorite tunes, in no particular order. Can't go wrong with old Metallica/Megadeth/Slayer/Anthax so didn't bother posting those.

Metallica is my favorite band, but more old school even today, Testament!! Low is an amazing album!! I am also partial to Overkill. From the Underground...is awesome!!

Aside from the obvious, classic bands I like both Havok and Shadows Fall. I realize that purist probably won't consider Shadows Fall thrash, but I've always thought they've fallen into that category.

I still buy any new release from Mekong Delta...

Can't say the say about Megadeth...

I can't qoute and post at this site... Does anyone else have this problem?

Nice picks there. I won't delve into the obvious bands, but I also dig Wrathchild America and Metal Church. I actually prefer the Howe era and although Metal Church is more American style powermetal than thrash, I name them because thrash fans tend to be their biggest supporters. Mike Howe might have been also one of the most underrated metal vocalists ever, as well. He was incredible. I also really dig Powermad (thrash band with high powermetal style vocals and Angel Dust, which is another hybrid band stylistically.

Amen. A lot of fans swear by David Wayne, bit I always thought that Howe was the superior vocalist. Blessings in Disguise is a masterpiece, and a lot of that was thanks to Howe. You're not going to find a better metal epic than Anthem to the Estranged (which isn't really thrash, but is still an awesome song).

Other great thrash bands:

Exodus--particularly with Souza on vocals
Overkill--PPXV reminded me of how awesome they are
Annihilator--Alice In Hell is a true classic
Nuclear Assault--Another killer band.
Pantera: I would say they're a thrash band, but they might have too much groove to be a true thrash outfit.

And of course, there is the big four, of which only Slayer and Anthrax have remained true thrash bands, but I'd give Slayer the nod for staying awesome all these years.
