Three Hails to Heavy Metal

Actually I think calling it a mere hobby is degrading it

I feel ye brother, but I was referring to the mere hobby side of it all. The album hunting, review reading, band scouring, record store perusing, ball scratching side.

If you add the other elements which include, attending gigs, socializing with metalheads, playing your own instrument, absorbing the music itself, then we're talking about something much more.

In the end it all comes down to this... Heavy fucking Metal. :kickass:

I have to see a man about a horse.

Sure, it could be called a hobby even with all those things and releasing albums and readin/making/answering interviews included until the point where it turns into a profession, a level I hope I'll never even get close to since this is art and not a business... But still, a hobby to me is something like tinkering with lego trains in a basement at the age of 40 or something, and metal is a way of life, religion and asskickin music all in one.

Until RiA posted, I thought you were talking about masturbation. :erk:
We weren't?

heavy metal kids are so polite ...

case in point ...

today I go to feast on Taco Bell for lunch and there are a bunch of HM High School kids hanging right outside the door smoking, bullshitting, the usual ...

then one of them goes out of his way to come and open the door for the stumble bum on crutches ... ohhhhh

or it could have been the RC shirt I was wearing today :loco:

I was definitely a good kid, no problems at home or school....and then one day my hair was long, I was drinking, smoking etc. Not sure though whether that was metal or adolescence.
