It was an unpleasant surprise just now to have the TV tell me that the last remaining legend of early comedy, Mr. Spike Milligan of The Goon Show, had passed away today 
The Goons were great, and influenced many great comedy acts, such as Monty Python. I only came upon them relatively recently, but already I feel like I have know them for a lot longer.
They made me and many others I know laugh, like this
