Tinnitus, Anyone?

Familia><Publica - Sorry. I had no idea how severe your case is and the problems that it caused in your life. I hope things get better for you.

I browse this forum occasionally now, didn't expect to see this thread up again seeing as i started it so long ago. So, i thought i'd post, as its been so long. Can't believe its been 8 months since my last post on this subject.

Does it make me feel nauseous? Well, its reduced me to clinical depression, insomnia, self harm, ideas of suicide daily, alcoholism and drug abuse. Also, i split with my partner of 3 1/2 years because she couldn't cope with what it has done to me. I barely have the energy to pick up a guitar anymore, let alone record, a sorry state of affairs. I hope your tinnitus gets better soon, grywolf627.

Sorry to hear about your situation. I went on a steady downward spiral for about a year after my tinnitus started, talking to other guys with it helped me not feel like I was going mad and slowly getting back into music has helped loads. I've had it for over 2yrs now and it's a lot better than it ever has been.

There's a guy called Paul Grey who works for the Musicians Union who I'm sure will be more than happy to talk to you about your problem. He was the bass player in The Damned and UFO and has tinnitus that registers at 80dB and serious hyperacousis and went through a similar thing to you are right now.Paul Grey Musicians Union

I've got it. A combo of construction work, loud band practices, and not knowing how to listen to music at a normal volume:Saint:. Mine is pretty loud, but if there is noise around I can usually ignore it. I heard of some kind of vitamin or something called Lipoflavonoids. I have yet to find them in anywhere, and after some reading I am a little skeptical. I guess I'll just have to keep turning the TV up when I want to go to sleep.

Wow, Familia><Publica, I'm sorry about that...

I also have a slight tinnitus, I hear about 4 or 5 different pitched sounds, and a little bit of white noise in my right ear (only sometimes)...
I'm not even 18 years old, and never been exposed to lots of gigs nor something... so i'm going to the doctor, because mine is possibly reversible, as it's due to my eustachian tubes... not to volume damage...
