Geez I'm slow, but yesterday I took the time to read Cynic's reunion blog penned by Paul Masvidal. Brett, I see that you had the honour of doing the sound for them and even guesting for them, and Paul personally acknowledged it. That is seriously awesome man, well done. Did you get any pics with the band? Another thing, I have Focus and have read the liner notes, and Paul comes off the same, peaceful, thankful and worry-free person in that blog and in live videos (even a lost guitar rig seemingly can't work him up). I know plenty of Cynic fans here in Australia, hopefully they make the journey one day, fingers-crossed!!!

Yeah it was great. As a matter of fact they asked me to join the band as singer and guitar player last year after the tour, but I hurt my elbow (RSI) practicing before the audition so had to pass and they found Tymon which is anyway much better and fits more. I still have problems with my arm though, one year later... :(

i buy it!

i do have strange behaviour in my left hand for 10 months now. strangely I was not able to make the same moves on the neck...

Josh of Sylosis did use that too!!

Wow, you should take pride that they asked you to join them! You still have problems with your arm...is this only after too much practice or does it sporadically pop up (that would be quite a nuisance during a gig, I would imagine - I won't jinx you!)

Perhaps you could offer Paul your services for producing the next album after Traced in Air, or perhaps a live DVD? Because you did a very good job from what I hear on the Hovefestivalen youtube clips. There's an idea...

Haha, thanks but I wasn't there at Hovefestivalent yet :)
Yes, the pain is just always there (it's getting better now), I couldn't play the guitar at all for months, each time I tried it would just literally burn me from the inside after 2 minutes.
I would love to produce anything from Cynic but they already have lots of friends more famous and with more expensive gear, so that's not gonna happen anytime soon unfortunately for me :)

Whoah! Please tell me that Dave Mustaine thinks you're such a champ that he wants to start a side-project with you :) Did you do that bit for United Abominations in your studio?

Holy crap I misread your last post Brett. I thought you said: "I already have lots of friends more famous and with more expensive gear"...in which case I was like "oh man...of course Brett's got Dave Mustaine on speed-dial!" But you'll get there one day I'm sure

Now for a random pic to cover up my stupidity (guess who)
