Alright, *puts up cyber-dukes* them's fightin words :loco:

Oh well, I guess at the end of the day the most important thing that almost all of us agree on is how much ass Priest kicks. Anything else is secondary. Looking forward to the new album and checking out a show.
I just say it's no coinscidence that the late Chuck Schuldiner chose Painkiller to cover out of their entire catalog, and he was listening to JP waaaaaay back then. I can't wait for the new album, just saw 'em a month or so ago, they are still tha shizzz live.

You know what would be awesome? Some time down the line they bring Tim Owens in for an appearance with Rob either live or on album.

Priest totally slay, all the way. Even Turbo and Ram It Down. I still say, Turbo is a great pop-rock album...hell, better than pop-rock, ups the gears in heaviness several times on the album. You guys all heard Reckless? Essential. A truly anthemic Heavy Metal song, would've fitted Top Gun perfectly. The album is catchy, got cool solos and great singalong bits.
One of the Saturday night DJs at our fave club has taken to giving Ram It Down regular weekly spins. Absolutely fantastic. How can you not bang your head to that?! That album is a great transition from Turbo to Painkiller.

70s Priest has got a definite charm to it. I love the way Priest developed their sound from album to album but have never once lost sight of Heavy Metal. It's a giant two fingers to bands that release gromit albums and then say "urrrr you gotta open your mind!" or whatever to try and justify it. Oh no, ain't fooling us! Bands like Priest show us how its done, and I'm eagerly awaiting the new album and tour!

so I just finished watching this VH1 Classics Concert on TV ... 1 hour of Judas Priest during the Screaming from Vengeance tour ... smoking smoking show.

two things ...

1. how the hell did anyone not figure out that Halford was gay? he was just oozing ...

2. what is the deal with Ian Hill .. in the one hour I think they had the most 3 shots of him. he is always in the background in most Priest videos. was that some contractual thing, or he never liked to be on film???

I love priest. But yeah the lyrics are so so gay- Ram it Down etc I mean I dont really care that he was ,but jesus what the hell did they think he was referring to most of the time?

"Thousands of cars and a million guitars..." this a new Gay Pride theme? :err:

"Mr Downing primed and ready on a Sunday oooooooh!" That still makes me giggle.

Yeah, I always found this a bit wierd too. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a case of, at the start of the 80s, they found they had a solid songwriting team in Halford/Tipton/Downing who were also the most prominent musically and image wise, and just decided to focus on these three.
