Don't really know why, but I couldn't hear anything through my left ear. Right now it's better, but still can't hear anything above about 2-3kHz :(. When I pull an ear little bit up (like when I'm putting earplugs), I can't hear anything. Seeing a doctor tomorrow, hope it's a flu or something.

Have someone of you guys stumbled into the same problem?

Hey man, this is very disconcerting news, but if it offers some consolation, I woke up with a very obnoxious ringing in my right ear after a normal night's sleep (no loud music or sounds prior) and I got extremely worried as my hearing my slightly impaired. It passed eventually after a couple of hours but I got my hearing checked the following day.

I fucking hope it's nothing and your hearing will be back to normal soon. Please keep us posted. All the best. :kickass:

Crap..
I truly hope it gets better for you!

There was a time when I worked as a jet mechanic, constantly exposed to 120DB. Although I wore protective gear, after three years I started hearing bass frequencies pulsating in my left ear every morning. It gradually stopped after I stopped working there. Don't want to think about what might have happened to my hearing if I didn't.

ive woken up deaf a ton of times always in the same ear but the doctor said i just have a frequent build up of wax in that ear, he gave me drops and had my ears syringed, i take natural oil drops once a week to keep wax levels low and my hearing has been fine since, hopefully itll be something this insignificant for you, i know how scary it can be,

getting your ears syringed is he weirdest feeling ever and afterwards i could hear the fuckng grass grow

I get that pulse bass sound too once in a while. scares me everytime

I thought you wrote "half dead" at first, like when you sleep on your arm and you wake up and your whole arm feels dead, I hate that. But half deaf, I never heard of that. Possibly a sinus infection but all I have is an internet PhD so what do I know.

some say high-pitch ringing is usually symptomatic of hearing loss, but hey, everyone who works with audio production/ music is very prone to that anyway.

That sucks man.. hopefully its nothing worse then a ball of wax stuck in there(I had the same symptoms because of this.).

I got a bad wax buildup a couple of days ago and I couldn't (still can't, properly) hear high frequencies. You said that when you pull your ear up you can't hear anything. That's the same with me so I would say that it's probably something to do with a wax buildup.

Hey guys, thank you all for input. I think it's nothing THAT serious, should be wax buildup. I'm always using earplugs, so it shouldn't be hearing loss. Luckily, I'm not in middle of mixing, just finished couple of projects and doing editing for my band's album. For that, one ear will do :)

Three years as a jet mechanic is pretty brutal, sinewavealex, good thing it's turned out well for you. :)

Hope you're right and it's not that serious

I'm really happy nothing happened to me, I'm pretty meticulous at using earplugs at rehearsals now. Must say the music business is much lighter to the ear than those three years were.

If you use earplugs and/or headphones often you might get problems with your ears, so its probably nothing serious then. :)

It came out that it was wax buildup in my left ear. Doctor pulled it out, along with some stuff ('just some old skin' he said) from my right ear. It feels so damn good right now!

sounds cold related, or wax build up im sure you'll be fine.

after way to many visits to the doctors suffering from wax build up/blockage in my left ear, i now syringe my own ears in a DIY fashion and have done for about 15 years, always does the trick, and pushes tones of gunk out, I should do a youtube video of it.

shit man is that not dangerous? i always thought that getting syringing done by a pro was bad if you had it too often, thats why i just take alot of drops and use natural oils so as to avoid anything that puts strain on the ear drum

I dont do it that often, just on those occasions when you go half deaf and cant be bothered waiting for an oppointment and the doctors to get it sorted.

My wife is thankfully a GP and finds it quite funny, but doesn't think its dangerous at all, as its only a bit very low pressure warm water going around your dirty ear, hahahaha haven't broke my ear yet..

 thats cool dude, i was under the impression that, the water pressure being used too frequently in our dirty ears could damages the ear drum,

as long as you havent damaged yourself yet, im so clumsy id end up hurting myself, thats why i use the drops once a week in my bad ear and once every two weeks in my normal ear
