According to The Pulse Of Radio, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and PROPHETS OF RAGE guitarist Tom Morello told the Chicago Tribune that he is releasing a new single in honor of late singer Chris Cornell, with whom Morello played for five years and issued three studio albums in AUDIOSLAVE. The song, called "Every Step That I Take", features guest appearances from Portugal. The Man and EDM artist Whethan. Morello explained: "We're partnering with an organization called SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education), focusing on suicide prevention, information and depression awareness. With the passing of Chris over a year ago, and the momentum towards removing the stigma from mental health issues and suicidal thoughts, it was very important to have a song from that point of view." The guitarist continued: "I've had mental illness issues in my family and among my friends in the past, and there's a current trend toward this demystification to encourage people, among your friends, loved ones and professionals, there is help and there are ways... 'Every Step That I Take' is about how the dreams, and depression, and love and the lack of it on the emotional steps of the gallows are processed." Cornell took his own life in May 2017. Morello told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that it's no surprise people are still not over the shock and grief of Cornell's passing. "I mean, it's a horrible loss for those who loved him and for the world of music," he said. "He was a lovely person and one of the most talented people in the history of rock 'n' roll. The world was very surprised and saddened." Morello's new solo LP, titled "The Atlas Underground", will be released on October 12. The disc features additional guest appearances from CAGE THE ELEPHANT singer Matt Schultz, X-AMBASSADORS, RISE AGAINST frontman Tim McIlrath, Marcus Mumford and many more.
