Hi guys,

Id like to hear some opinions on this test i did...
bear with my sloopy playing and drum programming, its only a test file... did it in a hurry...

also, id like to know if u can hear the little buzz that i'm hearing on the beggining of the riff... i dont know if that's my playing (muting close to the bridge) or the sound itself or if my guitar has fret buzzing....

1st test:

Hi man
thanks for listening to it
my guitar has fret buzz on the first 4 frets on the sixth string though it could be the distortion too, i'm not sure and i bet the guitar is the main factor for that...

it's a homemade amp that i'm testing and the guy who did asked me to test it. A local company liked of the project and wants to buy it from him. Id like to hear if it's good or not and what could i do to improve it to give him the best feedback in a way he can do a great deal with this Co.

thanks in advance

Yeah, I can hear the buzz also.. sounds like it's coming from the amp (not being fret buzz). I think it is pretty basic guitar sound.. But then what do I know about amps, never had a decent amp myself:heh: (I'm a podxt (ab)user:) )

If you record 2 tracks panned 100%LR with this amp, I think everyone could judge better about the sound.. with some tight riffing (and without that buzz) I think it would sound good:)

I think it sounds pretty cool. I like the riffs. It gets a little boomy though when you palm mute. Have you tried multi band compression on it like the c4?

Hey Massili,
strange buzz on the very first riff but when the drum comes up I like the riffs, the tone (something dark..) and the drum sound. You wrote you programmed the drums, it sounds very real to my ears, what samples did you use?

It was double tracked 100%R/L though i did some kind of shit i couldn't get it to sound stereo enough to give it the stereo dimension :erk:

It was mic'ed with a sm57, cab was a marshall with GT75 i think, signal went straight to a behringer mixer then to the soundcard...

I didnt have so much time to work on this and my friend had to get the amp back yesterday and i couldnt help him as i wished with my tests though some ppl on that company heard my test and said the buzz is coming from my guitar and not the amp or settings :erk:

Well, i dont have the amp anymore but could do another atttempt and got a better result, i think... i quad tracked the same song but redid my drum programming and played along with a metronome  things went a bit better...

I hope i can post the file tonite but only when i have recorded some bass ... i will post a raw file with no tweaking at all and a mixed one

AbhorrencE:
Its just EZDrummer

Thanks for the comments

yes, the buzz came from the amp, but i think that it came not from the head, but from the cabinet....
