Toontrack Metal Machine (new EZX)

Got this last night and love it! I keep going back and forth between the Tama default and the Tama alt...can't decide which one I like better. Made a very slight adjustment on the snare inside SD and there good to go. Only loads a little over 300 megabytes into ram also! Great job!!!!!

Only got to play with it for a few minutes last night but so far the kit sounds, the grooves, even the fucking LOOK of it is awesome

I've only rarely tooled around on EZDrummer before but with this EX, it sounds so cool its actually inspiring ... makes me want to start writing new shit

Guys, just do it. This is a total NO BRAINER. After playing with Metal Machine last night, I loaded up some of my go-to presets in The Metal Foundry for comparison and it was glaringly obvious that the Metal Foundry can’t come close to competing with this little Metal Machine EZX. In comparison to MM, The Metal Foundry sounds thin, tinny, lacking punch and lacking a lot of low end everywhere, not to mention some of my presets load over a gig of samples and are using a good percentage of my CPU for effects. The Metal Machine is using no effects and clocks in loading around 300 megs of samples.

I’m used to searching an entire sample library only to find a few samples I think are usable with a lot of work on top of that to get them sounding good, but I was shocked to find with MM that I feel all three kits and all the snares actually sound good and will be useable with little to no work! I really can’t say enough good things about this product. IMO… Toontrack should be embarrassed that they haven’t been able to accomplish something like this in the past. Drums done right, plain and simple. What the EZX was always supposed to be.

just ordered this :

Well i can and i did. Doesnt mean its better for you, just better for me.

But it does give me a ballpark on what to shoot for with SD2

Picked it up yesterday too, pretty much a no brainer for that price being a drum sample whore. Initial impressions are awesome, great job props to Andy and TT! The drums aren't overly processed so they can still be shaped beyond stock but also sound killer right out of the box. I hope they release an SDX for further options. Tempesta MIDI is a sweet bonus too, dude has some fantastic pocket.

Stoked to see what they come up with next!

SD2 = unprocessed
EZX = processed

You cannot really say, that one of them is better.

Sure, you can. Drum tuning, choice of drums, choice of cymbals, choice of mics, mic placement/recording technique could all be better or worse depending on tastes.

I think the few clips I've heard so far sound better than any previous Toontrack stuff, processed or not.

Glad you guys are diggin it :)

hey andy!!

may i ask you for details, notes or whatever about working with toontrack making a drumlibrary?? was it fun? was it hard?

any comment that you would share with us could be really interesnting...

also... any suggestion about how shoudl be post procesed could be great too

thx!!!

we had a great time actually, the toontrack guys are super cool, total goofy humour and not shy of a good meal/drink, so we got on great. I was surprised at the amount of samples we recorded, it took 5 days of constant hits, tuning, playing midi, and then 2 to 3 days back in the uk fine tuning. I tried to find a middle ground with the eq, compression etc. The idea of ezx is that its good to go out the box, but I didn't want to over do things, so it could be flexible. Judging by what you guys are saying here I think we got it right. Theres a free update coming soon with a few more cymbal catches/chokes btw.
