Yes...fucking shoddy musicianship, the style has progressed a little but honestly not to a good place, sounds really half-assed, and of course Born for Burning is stolen straight from Venom. Debut was charmingly amateurish and Under the Sign just had some fucking great tunes, but The Return is a stepping stone in all the worst ways.

Sloppy Kraut-thrash trying to polish up and sound Bay Area, abandoning the only thing that prevented them from being a remotely worthwhile band in the first place. And the album has about five riffs: Grinder's Dead End intro riff, Sacred Reich's Death Squad verse riff, a riff from Megadeth's In My Darkest Hour, a Motorhead reject riff, and a generic this-makes-the-filler-tracks-of-Reign in Blood-sound inspired tremolo riff everywhere else.

One of the most disappointing metal moments for me was hearing the second Exodus album (Pleasures of the Flesh), after loving Bonded by Blood so much, and the long wait and all that anticipation. I couldn't stand the vocals. Huge disappointment.
