Tramz Asylum awards

It's a good list. I don't agree with everything he put in here (who ever agrees on music lists?), but I like how he gave his reasoning for each album.

Good job guys. You were certainly in my top 5.

I do have a question though, and I know it's been asked a million times...

Have you guys ever actually associated yourselves with a genre?

Metal, I guess. For a while I was pretty satisfied with the term "Dark Metal" because I thought it suited us. But now I've seen everyone and their grandmother using that term to described all sorts of bands so who the fuck knows anymore, lol. I think too many people focus on what genre something is, or isn't. I love all kinds of music, and I mean literally, ALL kinds. I won't turn my nose up at something just because of the genre it's associated with, as long as the music is good. How do you classify a band like ours anyhow? "Doom".....well no, we play lots of stuff that reaches beyond that genre. "Death metal", same thing, we do alot that doesn't fit there either. I mean, even "metal"....you can't really call songs like Twilight Innocence or If Forever "metal songs" can you? I don't really care what category people put us in, so as long as they're not doing it in a way that's meant as a negative thing towards us, like saying "Oh ND are just some copycat doom/death band"....well, no, we're not, in fact besides not just being doom/death we also pre-date many of the other bands of that genre......anyhow that's just an example. We're just generally a dark heavy band, and we'll share the stage with everyone from Agalloch to Saturnus to Deceased to Obituary to Dying Fetus, etc etc.

Oh and thanks much to Tramz Asylum for that ranking, not only is it cool to be #1 but honestly even if we were #10, I'm quite pleased and in agreement with what was written about the cd. It's nice when you see someone who actually "gets it".

Yeah, I bet.

I absolutely agree with what he said about comparing TNR and TPHD. I think it's hard to compare any one album from ND, or many bands.
