To re-amping pros out there:

I normally get decent results re-amping. I always track tight performances, through new strings/decent pickups.
However the DIs I have got for this latest project were recorded quite a while back, with a pretty cheapish guitar and they aren't re-amping that great.

They are still workable, but not as good as the DIs I am used to.

Now I know it's all about getting tight performances through decent gear in the first places. I don't need that drilled into me. But these aren't bad enough to spend hours worth re-recording an entire albums worth of guitar takes.

So does anyone here EQ/compress/do something amazingly magic etc to DIs before putting them through the re-amp box?

I sometimes take an EQ to the low mids if its coming through quite stuffy through the amp. Never touch the mids/highs personally but yeah, don't be afraid to give it the treatment. You can also try MB compression on the DI.

I once used melodyne on DIs to improve the timing. Can help with sloppy played material.
