I know that there is another thread on the forum about Jon Lord, but I felt that I had to do something a little special at this sad time. Deep Purple changed my musical interests and life forever. With over 300 albums and CD’s of Deep Purple and the spin-offs, include Jon’s solo material, I have spent probably hundreds, if not thousands, of hours listening to music that Jon helped to make and perform. When Deep Purple performed the 30th anniversary of Jon’s Concerto at Royal Albert Hall in 1999, I had to be there. So, the passing of Jon is almost like losing a family member.
I met Jon Lord once back stage after one of Deep Purple’s shows in the 1990’s. He was everything that his legend made him out to be: intelligent, ultimate gentleman, witty, articulate, warm, dignified, and just a kind soul.
