Trivium bothers me

I think I'm on the same page with you GGI. I've listened to some of their stuff, studio and live (when they opened for Maiden), but for some reason I just can't get myself to like them. And I've no idea why.

¯\(°_o)/¯ do nothing for me. Sounds like some high gain guitars, some fast drums and some dude screaming. Not my thing at all. ¯\(°_o)/¯

Pretty much the same for me. I usually get at least some sort of feeling from music, be it positive or negative, but Trivium... Nothing. And to quote Monty Python: "I mean - what have you got to lose? You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!" ¯\(°_o)/¯

I couldn't tell you why they bother you. I really get off on their music, personally.

Could be they have a definite metalcore streak, if you're not a -core person might annoy you a bit.

im a core dude, love the deathcore metalcore shit, but just cant latch onto their most recent stuff, even though i do dig it, the crusade was a pile of wank, shogun sounds decent, i need to give it a few more listens, but i wud rather listen to acendency.

Yep I feel ya.

ascendency has some good songs. after that their egos ruined theor music. by now if they knicked themselves shaving, they'd bleed doo doo.

Again, I'm not trying to bash them, because IMO they're not bad, and I'd rather hear them than most music that's out there. I think it might be just that they're just not angry enough or something. Now I sound like a tool lol....

I dunno, just another thought. I mean, the vox are good, and kinda heavy, very Hetfield-ish during his heyday but they're not PISSED like his vox used to be. Like genuinely pissed off. Like Children--Children's got that same thrash attitude but Alexi is real pissed off and drunken sounding when he sings. Trivium's missing that. I think that's part of it. Whatever. Again, not trying to hate. It's genuinely been bothering me for a while now. ...JC, why am I spending my Friday night writing this shit???

I know I sound like an ass but ... to me Trivium fucked up with getting their Dean-Endorsement (the bassist is a BC Rich-Endorser-right?). To me only very few people can go on stage with those über-extremely-spikey guitars without making themselves looking like they "try too hard". And the Trivium-guys are definitly NOT on this list.

I don't know. That ruined their whole picture as a "cool" band.

Everytime i hear Trivium i notice this smell, you know, a nice warm puddle of puke that reeks up the place something fierce?
Thats what i think about Trivium.
