Trivium bothers me

If I'd care to much about image, I wouldn't have listened to Trivium in the first place...

These guys have as much charisma as ball cancer and the integrity of a raw egg.

Let's see, short Trivium history recap: fagcore get's popular, Trivium ride the wave hard --> suddenly it seems like it's 1986 all over again, retro-thrash get's popular, Trivium ride the wave hard, burying their fagcore roots into oblivion like Pantera once did with their hairspray cans --> 1986 has passed a second time, screams are back cause the peers are complaining and suddenly it's en vogue to bash Sneap to hell and back, "natural production" is the new black, Trivium ride the wave hard, but it's all just lies --> ... --> 2015: sacrificing baby seals on stage is the most metal thing to to in contemporary metal, Trivium ride the wave hard...

Hmm, do I see a pattern there?

Two bad they're actually able to hold their instruments straight and write a decent song here and there.

Trivium = it's all just lies. Simple equation.

Edit: I can't wait till they "realise" they've actually been a black metal band all the time...

Oh pleeeeeeease.

All the Euro bands sound the same too!!!

It's just like vomiting out third harmonies.

Perhaps, but out of say 10 or 15 of my top bands, the ones that consistenly put out amazing material, 1 is American, the rest are European. BUT I guess that Europe is obviously a ton bigger than America... but not 14 times bigger (I think o.0)

Yeah well that's probably cause your more keen on euro steaze, which is fine, but then let's not just say that all American metal is garbage compared to Euro stuff, especially when a lot of American style bands are appearing more and more in Europe.

There's some generic shit on BOTH sides of the fence.

Just wanted to get that straight don't want to argue or any shit like that just untwistin shit.

This.
Also, it doesn't help that their music just flat out sucks, but that's just my opinion I suppose.

Maybe if they just said "yeah, we like hairspray and core music, whatcha gon' do brah?" then i'd probably be just like "yeah that's cool, fair enough" but they're deluded as fuck.
I seriously can't stand this "OMG NATURAL PRODUCTION" fad all of a sudden. If it weren't for people like Mr. Sneap fixing their shitty recordings they wouldn't be half as popular, so it comes off as ungrateful as fuck, and Shogun ended up sounding like a standard metal production, and if they don't realise all that delusion was for nothing then they're as blind as Stevie Wonder (just without the talent.)

It all comes off as a tad empty as well. Just like GGI said, it doesn't sound very genuine. I hate CoB with a passion, but at least Alexi sounds like he fucking means what he says. Matt Heafy reminds of the kid every school had that liked to think he was all hard and br00tal but couldn't scare anyone except the kids 3 years younger than him, but still pretends he's teh br00talz.

Fuck Trivium.

I tried to like Trivium back in the day when I first heard of them because it was a new metal band to check out and enjoy. I WANTED to like them at least because of their shreddage ability. Back when I was starting to learn lead guitar and watched nothing but virtuoso videos online hoping to catch a glimpse of a secret to shred.
I'm with GGI on this one... I've just never been able to like them or enjoy their music, no matter how many times I gave it a listen.
It has nothing to do with their musicianship or talent, obviously these guys can play the life out of their instruments.
The only way I know how to give example of this is to compare Crowbar.
Crowbar's music has 12 ton balls that destroy buildings.
Trivium's music is more like a child with a plastic hammer trying to smash the windows out of the same building.
Trivium's music just doesn't have enough balls for me. Call me gay, I guess.
I like music with heavy balls.

I'm with you dude, almost every one of my favorite modern bands is European!

Yep, same here...

On the Trivium thing...I don't really like their music, not that I hate it, it's just not my thing.
However, it's their image what make me cringe. The "we're the new metallica" thing.

I remember the urine filled condoms affair in that UK gig ( I read that here, sometime ago)

P.S. Regarding Crowbar, isn't kirk widstein looking like will smiths' uncle on "fresh prince of belair"? :hypno:

Personally, I just think they are average at best. Boring most of the time. The music doesn't move me enough.
Same with Chimaira, Unearth, As I Lay Dying and so forth. Devildriver does a better job IMHO but then again they're less core so...

Yeah, Devildriver is a different category IMO, so I too dig 'em much more than the other bands you listed Bernhard

i think slashvanyoung summed it up pretty good! they r not very original and seem to ride on the success of the "in" thing at the time. but most listeners can pick up on the fakeness.

thexrateddodo, lol at ur signature! not the best analogy I have ever come up with, but funny none the less!
