for those of you who don't want to read the full thing, I'll sum it up in two words: FUCKING AWESOME
They played the entire Christmas Eve & Other Stories album which pwned. The crowd went nuts on Mad Russian's Christmas and Christmas Eve Sarajevo. There was a female singer who sounded like a pseudo Britney spears type person...she annoyed me. Al Pitrelli was godlike...as would be expected. Alex Skolnick did not play. I was kinda bummed about that. The other guitarist, Angus something er other, was pretty awesome too.
After they played the Christmas Eve album, they did some stuff off the Christmas Attic and Beethoven's Last Night. Their version of Beethoven's 5th was fucking awesome. I wanted them to do the 9th but oh well. They played a track off their upcoming album: their version of Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana". It slayed.
The whole concert was awesome. Lasers, pyrotechnics, smoke, fake snow (which is better than no snow since we're in LA). It was definitely the most awesome live show I have seen in quite some time. Another thing that was nice was the sound quality. The Arrowhead Pond sound system was stellar. It was all mixed just right. The drums could've been a tad louder. But I mean, it wasn't overpowering and ear-piercing; it was just right.
So, for those of you who are going to see them, you will definitely enjoy yourselves.
