TUBESCREAMER....WHY???

Hey I ve been reading a lot of you guys have been using this to record.Why should you use one with a great amp(rectifier,5150)?What does it add to the sound?I ll be recording a thrash -death metal cd in the next days with a 5150 you think it sould be good to add a tubescreamer?And if so tell me how to adjust its tone.

Well, I use OD808 or TS9 because it tightens up the attack and removes low end rumble. Dont think it change the overall sound that much. Adds some nice "roar" in the mids. I always leave the gain knob at 0. Just increase the level knob to kick your amp in the ass. Find a nice balance beteween the gain knob on your amp and the level knob on your OD pedal.
