I don't want to kill people with a too long, didn't read type of review so I will try to get straight to the point here.
Genre: Stoner/Doom metal
Track Listing:
Hymns to the Stone
Million Year Summer
Turn the Page
Vy Acrimony
Find the Path
The Bud Song
Motherslug (The Mother of All Slugs)
Heavy Feather
Firedance
Tumuli Shroomaroom was released in 1997. It is Acrimony's second album and their best work, a true classic stoner album. The album has your mix of sludgy classic rock grooves, corrosive acid/psych rock trips, epic space rock excursions, and pounding metallic aggression. It is definately an album that you can put on to sit back and relax to.
All nine songs on this album are excellent. It's a completely solid album, from beginning to end, and is a MUST for doom fans who enjoy stoner metal. If you are new to the stoner genre and need a place to start, this album is one of the best albums to get you into the genre before you expand to other amazing bands and types of doom metal. It's an album full of creativity and you will not be disappointed. Track lengths range from 1 minute, 46 seconds being the shortest tune to the longest tune being thirteen minutes, 17 seconds.
Hymns to the Stone is a 9 minute opus with twisting and interweaving guitar work and lyrics all about the druids.
Million Year Summer is another fantatic song with some very exceptional guitar work. One of the best songs on the album.
Turn the Page is basically your token acoustic number. Kind of Led Zeppelin-ish.
Vy is heavier than the previous songs and includes faster sections in contrast to the generally plodding tempo of this album.
Find the Path has some incredible riffs that will amaze and please you.
The Bud Song yet again includes some pretty awesome riffs and is another one of the albums shining songs.
Motherslug (The Mother of All Slugs) continues on from the previous song and features some nice atmospheric building of tempo. The last three minutes, though, are a bit dragged out and not really necessary.
Heavy Feather continues the psychedelic and tripping vibe and features some good melodic riffs.
Firedance starts of really "dreamy" and a bit weird but when the actual song starts and you hear the singing and riffs, you get right into it and rock out.
Just a few of the songs off this amazing album to give you a taste of how awesome this CD is. 9.5/10.
