Turmoil in the Evanescence camp

In discussions previously, I've mentioned my dislike for Amy Lee. I was a big fan of this band back during Origin and the early Fallen period. However, by the time Ben Moody jumped ship, I kind of lost any faith in the band. Especially when Amy came out swinging with some negative comments against Ben.
So.. They release The Open Door. William Boyd (their bassist) leaves right before the tour starts to focus on family. This past week both John LeCompt (guitarist) & Rocky Gray (drummer) are out. John says he was fired over the phone by Amy. Rocky says the label told him he couldn't discuss it. Effing unreal. If what John says is true, my dislike for Amy rises even more.
Oddly enough, she just got married over the weekend. Maybe next album she can not write a bunch of broken hearted songs about how Ben & Shaun Morgan (Seether singer) screwed her over.

Just one question: When has Evanescense NOT been the Amy Lee Band? I mean, all she needs is Marcelo Cabuli managing her, and Michael Schenker playing guitar, and you will see an implosion that would put Krakatoa to shame. :)

What else could be expected to happen in a "band" that was merely a creation of the record label. Didn't the label hire a producer for them and he then revamped and recycled their old material for the megasuccess Fallen? There was a reason Ben Moody took a hike like he did. Now honestly, do you believe that there is much of Amy's originally written material left in the songs printed on latest album? Well, the lyrics, maybe?

When looking back, it is too obvious that the formula used for building and selling Evanescence was taken from the generic handbook 'how to make a pop-princess' then transcribed into some corporate kingpin's idea to build a princess-fronted rockband for America in the veins of those gaining popularity in Europe at the time.
Now the original songwriter long gone, all his original works sold and resold on dozens half-arsed releases and the band shattered into pieces again, the ragged princess stands alone...

Nope. The band started out in Little Rock as a 2 man project featuring Amy, & Ben. Eventually David Hodges joined as the third member by the time Origin was released in 2000. While Will, John, & Rocky were not band members from the beginning, they all appear on the Origin album. Their early label was a small Little Rock company called BigWig. They signed with Wind Up in 2002, 4 years after the first EP was released. Amy & Ben met at a summer camp in 1994, dated for some time and were even engaged at one point. Amy now rights the majority of the lyrics. I haven't paid attention to who writes the music. Ben & Amy used to share credits practically down the middle but after his depature, she kind of claimed she wrote most of Fallen which is pretty far from the truth.

I HATE THAT BITCH.

After seeing just how poorly she sings live, how shaky and wavy and pitch-wobbly she really is on a stage, I began this hatred for her, AND all her fanboys worshipping her as a goth queen wannabe. I couldn't believe how many people started following her around like lost puppies, just cuz she dresses in black and is depressing all the time.

I wanna see Simone Simmons fight her in Bodog Fight, and beat her black-eyelined emo ass to a pulp.

Although, she does kinda have a decent voice. I wanna commend her on her singing merits, her live performances prove she's a hack.

I'm well aware of their background, but the fact is that their previous recordings including "Origin" didn't sell worth peanuts until they signed with Wind-up Records, who *behold* have a worldwide delivery contract (except Canada) with the mighty Sony BGM. You might also want to compare the tracklist of Fallen to their older releases... hence I'm talking about producer revamping their old songs. Getting the corporate machine to promote an album through all channels: nationwide TV & airvawes, movies, videogames etc. will definitely give a huge boost to even the occasional talentless rapper, not to speak about a decent rockband like Evanescence. In the end the global success to become a multi-million seller will always lie in the hands of the corporate powers. :Smug:

Well, said. That's the impression I've had for the last few years. Their only merit was, perhaps, get a few people to listen to the real thing; bands like NW, WT, AF, Epica etc. But listening to those bands compared to Evanescence was always so irritating.

It's about time. I'm sick of hearing "They sound like Evanescence!" in response to any other female fronted band (Nightwish, Within Temptation...) that's been around longer than Evanescence.

And Amy Lee is a screeching harpy that can't sing.

I hate seeing a band like Within Temptation devolving to become an Evanescence clone just cause they are trying to break into the USA market even more. Their last CD was horrible and reminded me of Evanescence completely, a far cry from Mother Earth.

That's probably the most inaccurate statement I've read on this forum in a while! Dude, you'd better go back and listen to The Silence Force and tell me it's not better than anything Evaescence has ever even thought about.

As far as Evanescence is concerned, I'm a fan of the band. I don't really base whether I like a band's music on egos of musicians. I really enjoy Origin, Fallen, and The Open Door. Mentioning or comparing Amy Lee to Jon Schaffer is like comparing Mike Portnoy to Phil Rudd! Come on guys!

Not talking about Silent Force, I was refering to the last album they put out "The Heart of Everything".
