just thought id share these, don't think i ever posted the final versions. Using the 6505>1960A> V30s>sm57 on guitars. They sound really compressed/limited for some reason, and im not using much limiting at all on them, maybe its just the tone affecting the master buss!?

This is a tune by me and me mate, its a side project thing we do from time to time, and we did a 2 track session not long ago, and this is the work in progress result. It has possibly one of THE best middle 8 sections ive ever worked on! its sooo grooving!:

Guitars sounda kinda grainy and trebly.. almost digital at times. and I don't think it works for the music. I'd try to get some more lows on them, more of a thick tone. Or if you want to keep that style, you need to make the bass guitar fill it up, more lows, and more jangly highs.

Back off a bit on the compression on the drums too I think. The kick has an insanely tight lowend though, very nice.

Vocals sticking out a bit, altho perhaps working with the guitar/bass mix would help that out a bit. Maybe some saturation on the vocals too?

thats weird u say the vox stick out too much, my mate rekons they are too behind everything!

i struggled with the guitar tones from my initial amping, i did something wrong and had to do alot of post to rectify it! the other tune i posted has alot more bottom end in the guitars i think.

The bass is is a very shitty one on the other clip i posted, with an EMG pup in, all DI'd just using virtual bass amp to dirty things up a bit, about 6dbs of comp, subtractive EQ and a limiter if i remember correctly. On the first two clips, everything was pretty much the same, apart from using a different bass, which naturally has a shit load of chonk chonk!!
