I think to buy a universal audio la 610 mk2 pre, what is your experience with it?
I will use it mainly for vocals and acoustig guitars......

I liked it a lot when I tracked vocals + bass with it. Very warm and full sounding, maybe not the best for growls or someone with a particularly full/bassy voice, but a great preamp nonetheless!

Thanks for the reply jeff, someone on gearslutz complain about some lack of headroom.....but I don't know...probably peaople are squashing theyr signals to much

For guitars and some kind of vocals, drums in general I like my api A2d a lot, I'm in search for a good channel preamp to use with clean voc that have a different caracter than api...i'm intrigued also by the new 4 channel 710 ua preamp but I don't know how is the best choice.

Clean vox + clean gtr, bass, and stringed instruments would be good.

I can attest to the low headroom - we used it on a kick drum for one project and ended up with 2-3 hits per song that I had to manually replace with samples from the kick because it clipped on the very hardest of hits regardless of what we had the gain set to.

What I really want to check out is the 6176 - if the compressor is really a true 1176, then it'd be great for other processing as well!

If you already have the API, the UA will probably be a really good companion :)

excellent on vocals but like everyone mentioned, lower headroom. Its not like it'll straight up ninja-fuck you, you just need to be aware of your signal going in. Other than that, a VERY nice sounding pre. Also works great on bass and actually pretty damn killer on high gain guitars .. you just need to play around with it

I only have experience with the first 610 version but "low headroom" is precisely what makes it desirable for clean vocals or bass guitar.
