MTV.com is reporting that MEGADETH have signed to Roadrunner Records for the release of their upcoming album, according to a source close to the deal. The studio sessions — held at Sarm Studios, outside of London — were filmed by director Michael Sarna (ANTHRAX, OBITUARY) and are available at Megadeth.com to fan-club members.

... I don't know if this is good or bad.

Not that I care about Megadeth much (I stopped at CW) but I don't feel RR is relevant as a label anymore. I believe Nuclear Blast and Century Media as the big ones and many small lables (in Italy, Greece, USA) are making a much better job these days marketing metal.

My $0.02 on the case.

Actually, Roadrunner already has an established distribution, as well as a rather large roster of gold and platinum selling artists.

Nuclear Blast/Century Media, while rapidly gaining ground, still haven't had a huge breakthrough with any of their bands, save for their best-selling act, Lacuna Coil, who have sold just over 250,000 copies of "Comalies."

I hope their signing with RR doesn't affect the music in any way. If I'm not mistaken, they had all the music written before this, so hopefully they will just be satisfied with making the money off the Megadeth name.

Yeah, I could really care less which label they're on. TSHF kicked major ass and I'm looking forward to this album.

If RR didn't try to change Opeth, I doubt they're thinking of F'n with Mustaine.

I really don't like this signing...Megadeth's been on a steady downhill for years IMO and I don't see them coming back to form this way.

p.s. Hey murlam, you could've put a few pictures more in your sig, so they take up the whole screen... :D

You have the worst signature I've ever seen.

When I read your message I looked at his profile and for once I agree with you. Man, I am glad I have turned off sigs in my profile!

Agree on both counts. A single picture murlam will suffice please

Fuckin' sig still ain't loaded over here, lol. I really don't think it matters, I don't like much Megadeth, really the only two CDs that I could actually listen all the way through and buy are Peace Sells and Rust in Peace. Countdown I just cannot stand, and I've tried to listen and understand, but I really can't hear why everyone thinks this is such a masterpiece... Risk had a song I heard that was pretty cool, "Insomnia", though I don't think that's the title of the song...

Uh... what's wrong with Roadrunner? They've released some cool shit like Crimson Glory's and Vicious Rumors' early works back in the day. Don't tell me they've gone mallcore or something?

Anyway, I'm sure they'll be a better home for Dave than the near-bankrupt, cashgrab-release extraordinaire trainwreck of a record company that is Sanctuary. I'll get the new album for sure, regardless of the label. TSHF was really good IMO.

I agree apart from the Insomnia thing. They are a little over-rated.

I doubt so, I just feel they don't push/support certain acts as well as newer labels. As a matter of fact I can't recall right now if I had a single RR record in my collection.

Yeah, Roadrunner was good back in the day, especially when they were Roadracer with shit like Type O Negative, Toxik, Atrophy and plenty of other awesome bands. Lately... meh. They're starting to get a few good bands here and there.
Megadeth signing with them though... I definatly did not see that coming.

But with name Megadeth, you don't really need to push the new record soooo much. With smaller labels, no matter how much you burn money on promo, it's still the distribution which makes the things roll. If the album is not available everywhere, then it's a bomba. RR has the distribution and that counts. And I'm pretty sure that Dave has signed a deal that definately is what he wants, regarding the distribution/promotion/tours & co.

c'mon... Roadrunner's had some good releases...
Mercyful Fate!!!, King Diamond, Death - symbolic, cynic, jerry cantrell - degredation trip, the new opeth, etc.
