Ukrainian Metal?

True.
Kharkiv has much more good musicians than the capital.

So, some good ukrainian bands:

Nocturnal Mortum (NSBM)
Drudkh (black/heathen metal)
Kroda (Pagan Folk Black Metal)
Knell (Black Metal [clean vocals])
Raventale (depressive black/doom metal)
Selvmord (Black metal)
Kladovest (depressive black metal)
Azuth (black/ambient)
Vetche (dark ambient/funeral music)
Dub Buk (Melodic Black Metal)
Hate Forest (NSBM [the first band of Drudkh's former])
Inferno (gothic metal)
Kolo (Black/Folk Metal/Dark Ambient)
Lucifugum (Black Metal)
Semargl (black metal)

See, told you she knows her shit.

Haha...how do you know about this band? I guess they have like a Viking Metal asthetic, with that old pirate metal sound. I have one or two of their CDs, but I am undecided. One of the members has a more straight up brutal DM band called Requital. Also undecided on them.

I only have "waves are dancing"

And it's some fucking good celtic metal.

And the lyrics aren't in english.... so I don't care about the lyrical themes.

some less mentioned:

Astrofaes (pre-drudkh) great bands, almost better than drudkh actually, give a chance to Dying Emotions Domain and Ancestors Shadows.

Hate Forest - Battlefields (very epic and doomy, probably my favorite of theirs and very different from the rest)

Dub Buk - Idu na Wy ukranian black metal can't be better than this, very underrated band.

Mistigo Varggoth Darkestra - one man band by the singer of nokturnal mortum, excellent stuff.

Munruthel - atmospheric folk music, worth checking out.

When I think of NSBM, I think of fascists.

I'm hoping to hear from some actual Ukrainians....

I use to not want to have anything do with NSBM but then i said, ehh fuck it. if you feel strongly about it just download them. You're missing out on great music. Drudkh is one of my favorite bands and i don't give a fuck if they support NS. It's still good music. :kickass:
