SANCTUARY RECORDS GUILTY OF OVER HYPE:
A week or so back, Sanctuary Records put out a Press Release stating Kiss Alive IV had gone Gold. Well, not officially, as their record label were laying on the hype big time, by cleverly stating that the album had shipped Gold. Not the same as selling Gold!
Their press release:
"Sanctuary Records Group is proud to announce that legendary rock icons KISS add another GOLD record to their lead as the RIAA title holder for No. 1 American group GOLD RECORD champions of all time. The debut album from KISS Records/Sanctuary Records, KISS Symphony Alive IV has shipped GOLD, prior to the upcoming release date of July 22."
The label may be forced to issue a new press statement, as Alive IV entered the US Billboard Top 200 last week at #18, with 41,000 units sold. 209,000 short of the 250,000 shipped (Double CD, so less units needed than normal to make Gold status).
