Important:

ALL video is prohibited inside the venue. Even if your digital camera is accepted and has
minimal video requirements, you ARE NOT allowed to take video with it. Digital
cameras are allowed for still photography ONLY. Suspending your camera above your
head for more than 30 seconds will trigger security to check your camera for video.
You’ve been warned. If you don’t want to be hassled, don’t keep your camera suspended
in the air with LCD screen shining for everyone in the venue to see.

Reality:

Remember, the documented actions of bootleggers at ProgPower USA have necessitated
a ban on certain digital recording devices. The best solution to stop bootlegging is to
simply ban all cameras from the venue. Because many patrons have objected to that
extreme, a compromise has been made to continue to allow photography with all film and
certain digital cameras.

You are not being banned from taking photos. You just need to take them with any of the
hundreds of film cameras that have been made available over the years. Furthermore,
there are OVER 100 models of digital cameras that will be allowed in the venue.

Allowed:

ALL film cameras are allowed (disposable, compact, SLR, etc.,).
ALL digital single lens reflex cameras (Digital SLRs or DSLR) are allowed. DSLR
cameras do not have the lens mounted permanently to the body and allow for the
interchange of several lenses on the same body.
Use of flash on film cameras or approved digital cameras is allowed.

Banned Cameras:

(1) 640 px x 480 px* : >30 sec or time only limited by amount of memory available
(2) 320 px x 240 px* : >30 sec or time only limited by amount of memory available
(3) Unlimited video at any resolution
(4) Streaming video capabilities*
*Any frame rate. Any one criteria bans camera. This list subject to change.
If you believe your camera is listed below and does not meet any one of the three criteria
above (and thus should be allowed), it is up to you to provide me with a link to the
camera manufacturer’s website for that specific camera to prove that NONE of the three
criteria are met. Inquiries not providing a link to manufacturer’s specifications will be
rejected. I will not research this information for you further than I already have.

This list subject to change.

Please note that their will be a seperate entrance line for digital camera inspection. Flash cameras should proceed through the regular line. Cost is $5 each night for digital cameras. Once your camera enters the venue, you will not be allowed to bring it back in without paying $5 again for each subsequent inspection.

Update:

-----

Camera phones that take only photos are allowed.

Camera phones that can take video are also allowed, but you aren't allowed
to take any video with them, only photos. The longer you keep your phone
held in the air, the more likely you will be checked by security. Remember
that all video is banned, even if your digital camera is allowed and can
take video. If your digital camera is allowed, it is being allowed only so
you can take digital photos, not video. That's better than the alternative
of prohibiting all digital cameras.

Camera phones are not subject to the $5 fee and are not subject to
insepection. We understand the need to be able to communicate with your
family/friends outside the venue, especially if there is an emergency.
Digital cameras aren't used for verbal communication which is why they are
subject the the $5 fee.
