I've checked out the sound clips/demos/videos on Carvin's site, but still haven't made a decision on if I like it or not. This one thing I hate about Carvin, they don't distribute to retailers, they would probably do a lot more business at the cost of raising their prices just a tad, but hey, if I could TRY a fucking thing from them before I have to pay for it, I might own a couple of their products, but no. Bastards.

I've been waiting to try this thing since they announced it at Namm a couple of years ago, so next time I'm down in San Diego I'm going to stop by Carvin and give it a whirl. That being said, I probably won't be picking up a new amp anytime soon seeing as how I just got a Carvin TS100 power amp yesterday.

The V3 head have a lot of features, and I'm curious to Know if anyone have hear this fuckin head.

From reports I've heard mostly on HCAF, it has a very fizzy gain tone. A couple dudes over there have them and like them, but I've heard too many naysayers who've actually played it to think they would be all that great. Very cool features, though.

Yeah, I'm wondering about the V3 myself! Very affordable and Carvin usually makes pretty decent shit!

But I'll stick to 5150s & 6505 @ $500-1000 for now

When I was looking for another amp for my studio I came across the Carvin Legacy amp. Someone told me, the lead channel in both amps are the same. Don't know if that is true, but this might be interesting anyway.

I bought the Legacy first of all. Ir has a very very smooth and fat but also muddy tone. The normal 12oclock settings won't help at all. The bass is almost fully counterclockwise and the treble and presence are almost fully cranked.

Since I bought this amp, every solo (no metter which band) has been recorded with this amp. GREAT! It does not have the brutality and AARRG of my other amps (Mesa Boogie, Engl, Peavey etc) but it has a very warm and pleasing tone.
So it's not an allrounder (I have not recorded any rhythm guitars with it yet, might be cool if combined with 2 Rectifier tracks), but it's a very interesting alternative.
