Venom vs. Bathory

Venom is my favorite of the two and very historically influential to groups like Metallica.

The 1st two Venom Cds have some great tracks that hold their own today. I especially like "witching hour" this track rips, unfortunately sound is poor but you can still grasp the unmistakeable greatness of this stuff.

Also the wall of distortion that begins the track "black metal" was unique in its day.

I just can't pick. But I'll go with Bathory, since good ol' Quory progressed a little with musicianship and songwriting while Venom just got crappy after At War With Satan. But they're starting to get up there again thanks to Resurrection.

These I listened & enjoyed so far ...

All dark/black metal traces its roots to Venom, they are ground zero and very historically significant (even if you don't like their music)

I think the first two, welcome & black metal, are much better than anything they made afterwards and should be in all dark metal collections of any size.

Thanks to Tribal for the pix.
