Vicious Rumors!

One of the most underrated metal bands ever IMO!

Carl Albert had one of the most recognizable voices in metal and is sadly missed (RIP). Easily one of my favorite singers ever.
To put it simple, I rank VR as high as Metal Church, if not higher. Great musicianship, awesome vocals, diversified material, they developed their own sound somewhere between heavy, power, thrash and even progressive metal. The first 2 records are classic US Metal, later on they added more melody and also more thrash influences, they're not a one-dimensional band and that's why I love them so much :)
However some would say that things have been doing downhill since Carl died in 1995... I kinda agree, even though the last record wasn't bad. Still a sweet live band fortunately, but it will never be the same without Carl.

I'd recommand Digital Dictator, Vicious Rumors and Welcome to the Ball :headbang:

AHHHHHHH A home town band!! some of the guys in VR are from Santa Rosa, CA where I used to live. Grew up with these guys, local shows, they really hit it big in Japan and Europe but didn't gather a huge following in the States.

Great American Power Metal. They just recenty started a new website and are looking for a new vocalist. Here's hoping they can get all that done, in the studio and release something before PPVII...I think this would be a great band to see at ProgPower!!!:headbang:

I don't recall the VR reunion being discussed here yet..? Anyhow, as some of you probably already know, Vicious Rumors' lineup at the moment is Geoff Thorpe, Dave Starr, Larry Howe, Brad Gillis and James Rivera. The new album should be out sometime in the fall.

Being a huge Rivera fan and having recently discovered VR, I'm psyched. The recent offerings of both parties haven't been exactly mindblowing though, but I'm optimistic.

:headbang: They will never top what they did with Carl Albert but for the first time in a long time I'm looking forward a new VR release!

Why? James Rivera :headbang:

I am just happy to be back. We may never top what we did with Carl, but I am proud of all the music that we made back then... and on the new CD!

Hey WildeStarr! Great to see you here. Grab a seat sit back and enjoy the madhouse. :)

I am very much looking forward to hearing the new VR album. I think its great you have kept the band going. Its shows an iron perseverance! I am very curious how VR are going to sound with James on vocals.

Thanks! I think you will like the new VR, very dark, moody, heavy, and melodic.

Thanks!! Now I am impatient!! I remembering seeing you guys at the Dynamo club in Eindhoven in the 80s. One of the best gigs I saw. I hope you will come to Europe soon. I am sure some festivals would like to have you on their bill.

That show was 1988, on the Digital Dictator Tour. I recall the gig real well, it was our first show ever in Europe!

That show was crazy, the club was sold out and the fans were great. I had some problems with my bass, but other then that it was an incredible show all around!

Speaking of Digital Dictator, my wife and I are going to re-do that song in our band WildeStarr.
