Cool video here. Joe sounds good, he just needs to get a couple of the lyrics fixed up. Band sounds great.

Haven't seen Scott go so completely nuts onstage as in Got the Time.

Really want to see them do some new material though. Their setlists online have been still all old stuff even on their own dates. What about Fight Em.... at least?!

The audio quality on only is so bad that I can't tell if he does a good job or not. His phrasing sounds better than it did on the previous versions he did on that song

He does a good job, no singer ever sings perfect live. If you ever hear a perfect live recording it has been post editted in the studio. Now, add room for one more and some old pearls!

I wish they would do some other songs. It seems like I always see caught in a mosh, I am the law, got the time, mad house, antisocial, nfl, and mad house.

Joey sounds good. The first big 4 recordings it sounded like he was trying to sing "heavier" and it didn't sound great.

For one, if you were at the show you wouldn't have noticed anything forced. Did it look like the crowd was having a bad time because of it? This is not his song. He had to learn it on very short notice. This song is not that great in the first place. If they were going to do a JB era song I'd rather it be one of the few heavier songs they did during that era... Maybe what doesn't die or something similar.

Joey sounds just fine on this song though. I am sure if he had time to really practice the song he could get it down better. But I don't know what you expect from the guy.

People love to watch these clips over and over and over and analyze the shit out of every single tiny thing.

Cool recording from the tuesday show in Hengelo Holland:

Damn.

The whole band sounds amazing in this video. Just simply crushing it.

As far as the Only video is concerned, despite the lack of quality sound, I notive Belladonna is getting better on Only. I think he sounds better on Only than Bush did singing old Anthrax. I think both of them did a fine job singing the other vocalist's songs but I do like Belladonna's rendition of Only better than Bush's renditions of Indians, Belly of the Beast, In My World etc..

One thing I have noticed, Ian seems to be having a lot of fun. He has seemed progressively more energetic in every new video, more so than I have seen him in years. Wonder if he realized what could have been yet?

I don't know, I think he is enjoying being relevant to the metal masses again! :headbang::headbang::headbang:

Yeah and they are getting amazing responses from the HUGE Metal audiences. I am sure he is starting to see that those fans really do like Joey. And despite what Ian thinks the majority of those metal fans out in those audiences like it better than John Bush. So hopefully he is starting to get it and will continue on being energetic into the next album. Hopefully he pictures the reactions they are getting when they play those Joey era songs live and take that energy and mind set into the studio!

I wish there was a way to send a volt of electricity, like electroshock down onto him anytime in the studio he has a thought of writing a down tuned power grove riff or grungy type riff. And when he writes a nice thrash riff with some speed he would get a nice warm tingly feeling

He's had months to learn the song, so that can't be it. How long does it take to learn to sing a song? And what does audience response have to do with my opinion? It's different being at the show than watching the video, and like I said, maybe it's just the bad sound quality.

For the record, I thought the first time they played Only with Joey sounded better.

Blah blah blah blah blah. You can find plenty of videos of Bush playing sonisphere last year to metal crowds who were singing along with him. I can't for the life of me figure out why you can't be a Joey fan boy with out shit talking the Bush era at every turn and arguing it to death with great little gems like, "got listen to POT"

Excuses? really? you want to be a frontman for a well known band you shouldn't need more time to practice before a big tour. Dan nelson did it fine.
That's like saying oh ya they would of made it to the superbowl if they had more time to practice... no its just you werent good enough.

Joey needs to stay away from bushera songs, He barely can pull off his era and he is murdering the attempts of bushera.
Just play the 80's music!

I agree. I wish Anthrax would never play any Bush era songs ever again, not even Joey can turn shit into gold. I am sure Joey would be more than happy to never sing any of those garbage era songs. But saying he is 'murdering' his attempts at this song is laughable. I never thought he would sound good singing and of Johns songs but he surprisingly sounds pretty good, better than I thought he would.

I hope it really sticks in Scott's throat that despite all the shite he has thrown at Joey over the last decade or so, it's taken Joey's return to save and probably rejuvinate the band. As noted, even Scott himself seems to be enjoying it. And I say this as a big Bushthrax fan.

I wouldn't count on that....

Critiquing live performances via youtube is damn near impossible. Besides the limitations of the recording equipment the number of stage factors involved on these tours lead me to be surprised that any singer can be consistent live. I’ve heard the version without those filters and found it pretty fn impressive. That said, I think the band could do Joey a favor and retune a tad – even a half step.

As to rehearsals – The band rehearsed this song once before going live with it. That should give you an idea of what the band thinks about this version.
