Virgin Black supporting Opeth on there Australian tour

Yes! They are actually very good. Their first album 'Sombre Romantic' was wonderful.. Their sound is very brooding, operatic, and depressing but they have some great heavy moments as well. I wasn't a big fan of their second album 'Elegant...and Dying' but it's still better than lots of the music out there. I would check out the songs "Drink the Midnight Hymn" "Opera De Romanci" "Our Wings are Burning" and "Lamenting Kiss". I could see a fair few Opeth fans liking them for sure.

The members of Virgin Black have christian beliefs, they however are not a christian band as such.

Virgin Black is one of the best bands in the world and certainly will not "dissapoint" anyone. Anyways, if you read the Bible there is a lot of sorrow that is not captured in hardly any Christian bands, this one captures it nearly perfectly. And don't be worried about being turned off by their Christian lyrics, you won't understand them if you're listining to them for the first time anyways.

I think Virgin Black are only playing the 3 Melbourne shows and Adelaide.

I saw VB on the Agalloch tour...they're pretty good so I'm glad Opeth got a decent band to play with them instead of Devildriver and the ilk...
and in regards to the Xtian bands...there's also a doom metal band (Paramaecium) from Oz who are Christian and even though their lyrics are very biblical, they are evil as well because the bible does have some pretty fucked up stuff in it...like the slaughtering of all the first borns and such...

The sad thing is, as good as Paramaecium seem to be(even I haven't heard that much), no one in Oz seems to know about them.

I've heard of Paramaecium before; some guy on a website I went to was touting one of their albums as the best thing he's ever heard, but I can't find any songs or samples anywhere. Is there anywhere on the net (not Kazaa, Soulseek, etc.) I can go to hear them?
